Movie Night with Isabella Rossellini

The legendary actress in person to present her new "Green Porno 2" shorts and her father's masterwork THE FLOWERS OF ST. FRANCIS! Wednesday, April 1 at 7:00pm

Isabella Rossellini comes to the IFC Center Wednesday, April 1 at 7:00pm to present the theatrical premiere of the second season of her noted "Green Porno" short-film series and a special screening of THE FLOWERS OF ST. FRANCIS (1950), directed by her father, the Italian master Roberto Rossellini, for a special "Movie Night" program.

"Green Porno 2" follows the first season of Ms. Rossellini's series of critically acclaimed films examining the sex lives of insects. This time, she turns the focus on a variety of aquatic creatures in six films that range from "Barnacle," to "Starfish" and "Whale," with Ms. Rossellini portraying the titular character. The first "Green Porno" series was presented at IFC Center as part of our ongoing "Short Attention Span Cinema" program in 2008 and returns by popular demand this April and May. The theater will present the films from "Green Porno 2" as part of "Short Attention Span Cinema" starting in June, at the same time as they air on the Sundance Channel.

As a companion to the "Green Porno 2" shorts, Ms. Rossellini will screen a classic that also touches upon the animal kingdom: THE FLOWERS OF ST. FRANCIS. "THE FLOWERS OF ST. FRANCIS is a film about the patron saint of the animals," she notes. "It was written by a young Federico Fellini and directed by my Dad, who was his mentor. It's the perfect blend of serious 'neo-realist' themes and Fellini-esque humor that borders on the absurd. It's one of my Dad's favorite films."

Tickets for this very special event are $15 IFC Center members, $18 general admission.
