Lynch no longer making films?

In a house near the Hollywood Hills, a silver-haired man of 65 picks up a guitar. Later, he will paint. He may grind a little coffee. But whatever he's doing, none of it is likely to involve anything even vaguely resembling the making of a feature film. This man is David Lynch ' and that particular lack of activity is now, according to a more-or-less reputable source, permanent. The world's greatest living director appears to have quit the job.

The "more-or-less reputable source" suggests to me that this isn't exactly concrete, but it's still kind of evident anyway. I hope IE isn't his last feature. :(

Not sure if these have been posted yet, but I just came across them...

In this article, director Abel Ferrara reveals that Lynch is no longer interested in making movies:

And in this article, Lynch reveals that he recently quit smoking:

This article is from a few days ago and he says "I'm working on another new film, but it's not there yet."

This ties in with what he said at that video appearance he made at the recent Ibiza dance music festival (something along the lines that he was fishing for ideas for a new film but hadn't caught any substantial ones yet).

To be honest I'd rather he waited until he was feeling inspired than just churn out something half-baked for the sake of it. Will be looking forward to Crazy Clown Time in the meantime. :)

David Lynch is an Artist. Whether he chooses to express himself with film, music, sculpture or painting is up to him. We should be thankful that he's as productive and happy as he is. He's also not that old. He probably will make more films eventually - but not big feature films for commercial release.

Has anyone read the Rolling Stone interview (thanx to Faringold) ???

"What at are some other projects you're working on currently?

I'm working on a documentary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, I just took part in a documentary of a 16-country tour I did on meditation, consciousness, and peace. And I'm working on another new film, but it's not there yet. I just finished a one-minute film for the Austrians. They have a festival in Vienna called Viennale."

??????????
