To be honest: I don't like it. I don't like it at all.

I feel like Lynch is going in circle lately and lost his magic. I didn't like Inland Empire, and I don't like his video. There is no 'mood' in his latest video works. Is it something wrong with me or my senses? And this song is my second last favorite on the album. I'm disappointed. :(

I agree with your thoughts. His recent visual work on video just isn't grabbing me.

His paintings are though.

I understand where you're both coming from - although, I did like INLAND EMPIRE (even if I still think it could do with a good Editor). This is maybe my least favourite song on the album too, and I think that you're attitude towards the music might determine to a large extent how you feel about the video. To me, the song doesn't have much in the way of a Lynchian "mood" and thus, in my eyes, the video is going to struggle with that too.

However, I don't dislike the video - I was actually kinda captivated by it. The quality of digital video is different, but I'm warming to the way Lynch uses it. I couldn't help but smile a bit at the football player, the girl in trouble... the men yelling... It was like someone shoved a load of Lynch characters together in some weird musical party. Disturbing and I feel a bit like I need a shower after watching it.

It's not one of Lynch's best productions, nowhere near in fact, but I don't feel like he's lost his magic. I actually just wish he'd chosen to make a video for a better song on the album.

The imagery is far too literal to the lyrics.

I was going to say that as well.

I am glad I am not alone in my sentiments. I couldn't even make it through the entire video I was so turned off the first time I heard this. If there's a new layer of Dante's Inferno, this song is the elevator music.

I didn't want to be the first to be so harsh on this project, but I wholeheartedly agree. This kind of music is the sonic equivalent of anal rape.

(In my opinion, of course)

That's the reason number one to complain...

Latest works by Lynch:

1. Inland Empire - what's the hell he wanted to tell by this 'story'?
2. Crazy Clown Time - why the hell he shows us every line of this?

I like when Lynch is in half way between those two options.

That's a bad thing? The song is entirely literal, like he was trying to paint the video in your head as you listened, so why shouldn't the visual match up with what he was trying to put across in the first place? He just went from one extreme to the other, experimentation is the only way an artist can grow. He can do subliminal and obscure easy enough, what's wrong with trying something different? Personally i loved the video (and Inland Empire, seems like if you hate that you hate this).
