I was just listening to this podcast / interview with Bobcat Goldthwait:
https://trailersfromhell.com/podcast/bobcat-goldthwait/
About 47 minutes in they start talking about Lynch, and Bobcat says that years ago they met to discuss a movie about "a guy who digs a hole." A bunch of people are digging a hole, and when one guy (presumably played by Goldthwait) asks the boss why they are digging the hole, he gets promoted to management. Then everyone resents him, his life goes to hell, and he starts digging his own hole.
Has anyone heard of this? No idea when it would have been, maybe the 80s.

No clue here, but that sounds literally kafkaesque.
Recipe not my own. In a coffee cup. 3 TBS flour, 2 TBS sugar, 1.5 TBS cocoa powder, .25 TSP baking powder, pinch of salt. 3 TBS milk, 1.5 TBS vegetable oil, 1 TBS peanut butter. Add and mix each set. Microwave 1 minute 10 seconds. The cup will be hot.

Could that be The Happy Worker?
Edit: sounds like it is.

https://studios.breaker.io/happy-workerTHE HAPPY WORKER is a timeless fairytale of people and their pursuit of happiness. Joe Anderson (Josh Whitehouse) is your average Joe. He gets up, drinks the coffee his wife Joanne (Meagan Holder) makes, and goes to work every morning for his boss Goose (Thomas Haden Church). Everyone is happy until the day his friend Pete (J.R. Starr) throws an existential wrench in the works by asking “Why?” What are we doing with our lives? The search for the answer leads our reluctant hero, Joe, on a very curious journey.

Yup, good call! Here’s an old casting listing which mentions the hole-digging: https://www.backstage.com/casting/david ... er-237092/Metamorphia wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 9:58 am Could that be The Happy Worker?

Yeah, sounds exactly like The Happy Worker. I guess that project had a long gestation period.
