That's pretty great.

Surprised to see Lynch back behind such a large camera and not dancing around those girls with a tiny Sony.

Fabulous commercial !!! Two Questions:

1.) To the techniphiles: Anyone know what camera was being used in the shoot? Was it digital or film?

2.) To anyone: I wonder how David feels about product placement in a commercial? :P :P :P

As I recall he once said that product placement is total bullshit.

regards of the camera used in add

Post by dagoavila »

The camera is digital.

In fact it is a high def camera.

Not sure the model, but it seems it could be Sony Professional HVR-Z1U 3CCD High Definition Camcorder with 12x Optical Zoom or the Sony HDR-FX1 3-CCD HDV High Definition Camcorder w/12x Optical Zoom

I think its the first one.

The add is okay, but iam kind of disappointed he did this add for the money, I understand its probably gonna be used to finance a new project and to use it as an exercise for the use of HD cameras.

But still...he did say product placement is bullshit and I guess he really needed the money. Hope he doesn't have to sell out to those corporation sharks and brands in the future.

I don't understand this talk of product placement. Product placement is normally discussed in terms of a feature film. Real products are placed as a form of advertising within a film. This is an advertisement (for Gucci perfume), which Lynch has done all along throughout his career. Nothing new here. Now if an actress in his next feature film takes a gucci perfume bottle from her bedside table and applies perfume to her body, that's product placement and that's a problem. This is not.

it's true. i was wondering why all the beef with product placement as well, because this is not product placement in one of his films. there is a catalog of some of his past commercials at http://www.lynchnet.com/ads/

i think the pregnancy test is my favorite on there... of course the note below the video makes it a little more interesting.
