Director forums

Post by Pete Martell »

Which other directors have their own-dedicated forums?I am not referring to Spelbierg,Coppola etc. but directors with a much greater vision than thinking how to make their film more commercial.

That's an excellent question and I wish I could tell you right off the bat there were. I started googling around last night for about an hour, looking for some of my favorite directors not really considered in the "mainstream": Bertolucci, Wes Anderson, P.T. Anderson, Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, Patrice Chereau, Phillip Kaufman, John Sayles, David Cronenberg, Guillermo Del Toro, to name a few. All I can find are fan sites, blogs, and links to articles.

Actually, let me correct myself a bit. When I said fan sites, I meant not of the quality of dugpa.com.

However, Director Guillermo del Toro does have an "official" fan-run site with a message board, but a lot of other bells and whistles. I've never investigated it: http://www.deltorofilms.com/.

And DUH ... Writer/Director Joss Whedon has a board dedicated to his work. I am a member there. More known for his writing and directing famous television shows, than directing films (1), my mind didn't go there. If you want to be a member and post, major holidays are a good time to try registering:

Aren't there any Kubrick or Cronenberg forums?I know some forums only for specific films like Blade Runner that exist.

What sort of forum are you talking about? One on his own site davidlynch.com or another? I have never been to that site because it costs money.
