Lynch & Henry James

Post by skawitch »

This is my first post on here, so firstly I'd like to say hi to everyone! I have a an ulterior motive which is to ask if anybody can help me out.

My girlfriend is doing her masters dissertation on the notion of cathexis in Henry James works. One of the three chapters is a comparison of James' 'The Jolly Corner' with 'INLAND EMPIRE'. I have a little knowledge on Lynch and in discussing with her I can't recall ever seeing anything much in the way of a direct link between the two besides:

1. Freddie Francis was the cinematographer on 'The Innocents' (based on 'The Turn Of The Screw' by James) and obviously later on some of Lynch's films.

2. Reading an essay ages ago to do with homosexual subtexts in 'Blue Velvet' that mentioned James in it.

Has anyone read anything discussing the two further? You would receive my undying gratitude if you can help!
