EDIT: Despite some thorough searches a while back, l've just discovered this band today (without really even trying?!), and l'm sure they are the right band, two women called "Twin Peaks":

I recall the woman singing, she wore a red dress in the video for the song l'm after. She looks like the woman in the video l saw all that time ago. She doesn't have an Irish surname but the band are indeed from British Columbia. So ... l'm still searching for the exact song, and l'm certain it's by this band - l'll let you know if and when l find it.
I'm not really crazy about the song but the video was naturally funny, rather than a cliche by a maintstream band and deserves a place on this thread.
EDIT #2: Nope, l can't find that song, but l'm pretty sure it is the band in the youtube link l have, above.
Hi there,
I'm trying to trace a song by a Canadian band.
The lead singer was a 20-30something woman with black / dark brown hair, a bit like Audrey Horne but with long straight hair. More like Alanis Morrisette in the early 90s actually.
I'm quite sure the lead singer had an Irish surname, but l can't recall. I think she lived in British Columbia, possibly Vancouver, but l can't recall for sure.
They had a song out on YouTube that l chanced upon about 1 year ago, it was hilarious but l didn't bookmark it. It had iconic scenes from Twin Peaks woven into the band's own hilarious narrative. One memorable scene was Doppelganger Laura (played by the female lead singer) screaming and giving chase, but then she suddenly starts dancing on the spot, no leg movements, just hips gyrating, because she's really feeling the music.
Any clues as to the band?
