Julee Cruise - "Live in London" bootleg?

Post by TheArm »

So while I was on my favorite file-sharing program (shhh, don't tell!), I stumbled upon a bootleg of something called "Julee Cruise - Live in London," which included 10 tracks in pretty fantastic, clear quality, especially for a live amateur recording. And I'm guessing it's older too, since all of the songs are from her Lynch days, including "Falling," "The Nightingale," "Rockin' Back Inside My Heart," "Kool Kat Walk," there's even an "Industrial Interlude." And it's definitely not just audio from "Industrial Symphony #9"; it's live singing and instrumentation and audience applause. Does anyone know what this is, and when/where it was recorded? I'm mystified, but happy to have found it!

I think the BBC recorded it for radio broadcast.

I have this . . .

. . . and I like it, but there's nothing very remarkable about it. In fact, at first, I thought it sounded like someone had just taken recordings off of FLOATING INTO THE NIGHT and added applause sound effects.

I downloaded this directly from some homepage a long time ago, but unfortunately it is incomplete.

Here's all the information i have:

Julee Cruise, live in London 199?, soundboard by Radio 1 FM:
1. I float alone (incomplete)
2. The Nightingale
3. Blue Velvet
4. Kool Cat Walk
5. The In Crowd / Kool Cat Walk (Roxy Music cover)
6. Rockin' Back Inside My Heart
7. The World Spins
8. Falling

Is this the same recording you're talking about?

No matter what, i'd love to get the full show, so please let me know where you found the show.

Thanks,
Kim

While we're talking Julee, can anyone tell me how good her cover version of REM's 'It's The End Of The World As We Know It' is? It's on a Hed Kandi Winter Chill compilation, but I can't find any legal site to download (or even hear) just that track, and don't necessarily want to invest in the full 2-CD set...

Also, is her third album (non Lynch/Badalamenti) worth a whirl?

"The Art of Being A Girl" is ok, but it is completely different from her Lynch stuff. Has a kinda kooky bossa-nova vibe to it. It's cool and it's nice and has some personality, but I found after 1 or 2 listens I haven't gone back to it. The only thing that I think makes it a "necessity" for TP fans is that it does include a new, contemporized, "trip-hop" version of "Falling" as a hidden track at the end, which is kinda cool.

Yeah, it's that last track that has me tempted...

Well then, if you are as psychotic about the show's music as I am, then you should pick it up. I'm sure you can get it used for pretty cheap, I would think. The new version probably won't blow you away, nor will it ever replace the original, but it's an interesting listen and good for completists.

I really want to stumble upon this one too..
There's a place i'd like to show you. Near the ocean. It's very secluded.
I think you'll understand me better if you come with me.
