The Blu-ray shipped today in France (despite Amazon saying they will not ship for 3 weeks). It is confirmed to be Region free (Region ABC).

Re: Dune on Blu-ray
I wish that Dune original cut, extended cut and Lynch's cut issued on a Blu-Ray set like Blade Runner's ones!

Re: Dune on Blu-ray
But David only claims his cut, if even that. I think it's a shame that he had such a horrible experience making the movie, because I love it. And I'm a Frank Herbert lover!

How does it look to you?
Re: Dune on Blu-ray
That link doesn't look right. I have the regular "special edition" of DUNE with both the Lynch version and the Smithee version and some extras. I thought the Blu-ray was supposed to have more.

Re: Dune on Blu-ray
No,the Blu-Ray has only a few extras. From what i've heard, the image surpasses all the previous releases of the film (although it's not fabulous).

Apparently the reviews are not good for this German release. They say the quality of the Blu-Ray image is pretty bad. Transferred from a VHS copy, etc...
But I think it is safe to say we'll see it here in the U.S. soon enough!

Cool--where did you hear that rumor? The official Dune board doesn't follow such things. Do you know the actual anniversary date?

Re: Dune on Blu-ray
I don't. It was on one of those cinephile Blu-Ray sites. Sorry I never remember the sites...for instance where the Steve Lukather info comes from, have no idea. I just gather it all like a sieve and then spill it out, little by little.
