I bought The Library Of America's Philip K. Dick Collection a couple of years ago. I'd already read and enjoyed The Man In The High Castle previously. It was still very pleasing. I lost interest after The Martian Time-Slip, however, a pretty weak book. Not sure where I should pick up now. Perhaps just read the remaining novels out of chronological order. I'm most curious about the late novels.

Haruki Murakami - What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
Enjoyed this memoir of sorts.

Well, Dick's Valis is like reading a schizophrenic's ramblings on the supernatural. Depressing and unnecessary. Like all crackpot theories and philosophies, it's best to recognize it for what it is and move on. It's just that some epileptic schizophrenics achieve immortality as prophets, compile their holy book and are that much harder to ignore. Religion is a cancer.
I'm now rereading Iain M. Bank's Look to Windward.

Re: Last Book You Read
Been too busy to read much.
As part of my Mary Shelley Meets Frankenstein's Daughter project, I finally plowed through Frankenstein, 1816 ed. If PB Shelley polished up the prose here as alleged, he did a poor job, imo.
Also a swell biography, Mary Shelley by Miranda Seymor.
*The Great Gatsby, The Sun Also Rises, V. and Neuromancer are my fave novels written by 20-somethings.

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
What a beautifully written book.
"They ran in urine smell of shadow, they ran in clean ice smell of moon."

Good taste, Indifferent43!! You're reading stuff up my alley. Have you tried Naked Lunch?!?
Try some Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac!!

I loved reading his books. Well, I've read some of them, but I'm sure I'd enjoy the others, too.Melong wrote:I bought The Library Of America's Philip K. Dick Collection a couple of years ago.
