Hola!

I've been reading/lurking here for a year, and just joined. It seems like there are so many highly-versed people with so much insight to Lynch's work that I felt I didn't have anything to add to that, until now. It's great to read so many thoughtful concepts. I have to give one salute to Joel Bocko who encouraged me through his work to join this.

My perspective is that I was born and raised in "these old woods". In 1990, I was 30 and I'd gotten so wrapped up in career that TV was very low on my list. After all, it followed the 80s. I'd only tuned into ABC that night because of David Lynch. I almost turned it off, but then the anomalies began to weave their intent, and I was suddenly frozen, seeing the landscapes of my childhood and unable to reconcile what I was seeing with my very low opinion of TV.

After 25 years, TV is recently starting to spiral upward in some instances, nothing from the 80s is remotely memorable, and Twin Peaks is still able to disturb my thoughts daily with no end in sight.

I just want that startling feeling again. No spoilers for me, please. I'll wait indefinitely for another Lynch revelation.

Hi, I'm Justin. I'm 36, remembered seeing Dune on cable tv as a kid and missed it, and that was the gateway to other David Lynch things about a year and a half ago. i started at Twin Peaks on netflix, which led to all the full-length movies and some of the shorts. It also inspired a Twin peaks food blog, http://diningwithdiane.tumblr.com/.

other hobbies include knife collecting (like leland palmer, i've always had a thing for knives...), horror movies, long naps.

Hello all. Maybe someone here remembers me from the old Twin Peaks Gazette board, oh about 15 to 20 years or so ago. That was a fun place to be and I made several friends who have since faded into the internet but are perhaps here (Smoked Cheese Pig?). I had been quite taken with Lynch's philosophy and did odd things like decorate my living room like the Waiting Room; quite tastefully it seemed to me. Having kids and chasing the false idols have kept me off the internet for all these years save for my prodigious lurking. Regrets - yes many, but happily my younger 15 year old son, having seen seasons 1 & 2, is now ready to make the commitment to devote the needed time towards an understanding of some things Lynch before the 2017 première of season 3 (my older son is quite normal unfortunately  ). Step one – a course in philosophy at the local university, for which he just submitted his paper on Sartre and Camus, poor child. Then we revisit Straight Story, which he grew up with, followed by the rest except for Wild at Heart but including BV (did I say poor child?)

Anyway, I’m grateful for the forum and community. I may not become a prolific poster before the series airs, but I’m sure to chime in with my excitement of watching more new episodes of Lynch-directed episodes of Twin Peaks with my 16 year old son than I ever saw with my (then) girlfriend while in my mid 20’s. The kid has consumed a huge amount of serial TV and anime and was still blown away by Cooper and Truman (I am in the camp that is hoping Coop killed Harry).

Welcome (back)!

I'm later to the Twin Peaks party than you but I've read through a lot of old Gazette threads and always found one fascinating detail that I've never heard anywhere else: someone claimed to have read an early draft of FWWM in which Cooper comes into Laura's bedroom window (!) and has sex with her (!!) and she asks him "Why were you too late to save me?" Good line, but the rest sounds like bad fanfiction haha. I've always been fascinated by the prospect that Lynch considered this (especially with a new show coming up) and wondered what other crazy stuff was in that draft. As an old Gazette hand yourself, do you have any insight into the veracity of this? Thanks!

Thanks. Nope I never heard of that. The Gazette archives only go back to 2005 or so, and I was active on that board prior to that.

Hello every bodeeee!

My name is Adam and I actually signed up to this site a long time ago but have barely used it. So I wanted to formally say hello and perhaps get to know some of you.

I live in London. I've attended the Twin Peaks UK Festival. I obviously love TP, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Aside from Twin Peaks I'm into many things, including Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Philip K. Dick, Hermanne Hesse, Akira, politics and activism, spirituality, Buddhism, Paganism. I collect vinyl records. I have quite a big collection, with a special interest in ECM records and classic symphonic British rock from the 70s which later came to be known as progressive rock (a genre that has become all too cliche). I also like instruments, mainly drums and percussion.

Heyooo. Checking in from Croatia. Lynch is in my top 10 directors despite his flaws and I find TP to be absolutely groundbreaking and innovative show with great atmosphere surrounding it. Arrival of s3 inspired me to make account here and participate in more discussions. I'll prolly do several re-watches soon as I hope to pick up on clues/symbols/dialogues I missed before, so I hope there'll be some re-watch threads somewhere around when Showtime starts running S1&2. All in all ya'll seem like a pretty knowledgable bunch and I'm looking forward to hear multiple insights&perspectives on the series. Cheeers!

Edit: Shoutout to @laughingpinecone for helping me with my account activation.

I haven't used a forum in years and years, feels strange, good strange.

I have been a fan of Twin Peaks for about ten years now. I don't know if this makes me a recent fan, or an old fan. :D

I am originally from Sicily but living in London.

Thank you for welcoming me!

Brett here, reporting from the private Portland Airport.

I wanted to introduce myself since joining a few months back. Let's see, where to begin. I live in Portland, OR, USA, which I was drawn to by the atmosphere of Twin Peaks and the Pacific Northwest. My profession is software development, although I aspire to make my living writing fiction. I enjoy reading fiction and watching movies, as well as cooking.

My history with Twin Peaks and David Lynch is probably fairly common. A friend introduced me to Twin Peaks in 2011, and I've been falling down the rabbit hole ever since. I have watched the series 3 full times, with some rewatches of my favorite episodes. I've watched FWWM 3 times as well, and I enjoy it more each time. I really like the intro to FWWM with Chet Desmond, Sam Stanely, and Agent Jeffries. I really enjoy the setting, characters, and music of TP. It's the kind of show where I don't tire of rewatching it.

Since initially watching Twin Peaks, I've been working my way through Lynch's filmography. His films have made me appreciate cinema in a new way, and they are among my favorites. I've seen Blue Velvet, FWWM, Eraserhead, Wild at Heart, and Lost Highway. Inland Empire, The Straight Story, The Elephant Man, and Dune will be watched soon for sure. I'd say if I had to pick a favorite of the ones that I have seen, it would be Blue Velvet or FWWM.

One kind of neat thing is I was able to see FWWM, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart all at a local theater in Portland in 2016, which was incredible. What David Lynch says about the magic of seeing things on the big screen, especially his works, is true.

I don't usually have much to say in regards to active conversations, but I'll pitch in with my $0.02 if I have something to add. I really enjoy reading through the threads, and I'm excited for all the new Twin Peaks happenings with the book and upcoming series.

Hello everyone,

I'm from Puerto Rico, I have followed the threads of these forum for more than a year and finally decide to register.

I love all of the David Lynch films (included Twin Peaks and FWWM obviously). He is one of the reason that has inspired me to be director/screenwriter.

I discovered Twin Peaks 3 years ago and I fall in love with this (big) little universe and I'm looking forward for this new season.

My name is Al and I have been a Lynch fan for about four years. I became a fan when I read about Twin Peaks and began to watch it on Netflix.
