Placebo - Battle for the Sun.
Now it's dark. Shadows fall so blue.

Modest Mouse and Radiohead are 90% of what goes down in this house.

Modest Mouse is from Issaquah, which is right down the road from Snoqualmie. They've got a natty little version of "In heaven, everything is fine" in front of "Workin' on Leavin' the Living." Their best songs are not played on the radio, and their albums all sound different, so if you don't like one album, you might check out a different one.

Radiohead... I can't say enough good things about Radiohead. If you don't know, you better ask somebody.

Yeah, my tastes in music are conventional. That's just how it goes sometimes.

I listened to Lou Reed's Transformer a couple of times yesterday. I couldn't get the guitar solo from "Trouble with Classicists" out of my head last night.

Two amazing, completely different pieces of audio on rotation right now, released this month, both available at the excellent UK online store Norman Records if you're curious:

Leyland Kirby - When We Parted My Heart Wanted To Die (Badalamenti/Eno-esque modern classical and musique concrete compositions, by the V/Vm chap who did the Twin Peaks tribute records 'The Owls Are Not What They Seem' and 'There Was A Fish... In... The Percolator', pressed onto high quality double vinyl. The first in a series of 3 long-awaited double LPs entitled 'Sadly, The Future Is No Longer What It Was'.)

VHS Head - Video Club (5 tracks of cut-up VHS video clips set to pounding electro breaks and beats. This is what the Art of Noise would have sounded like if Trevor Horn hadn't given up on it to produce shit like tAtU or however it's capitalised. Out on Skam Records, one of the few good labels left in the music industry.)

Well, the basis of this post is a lie as I am not hearing any music while typing. But still I would like to say that if there are gentle gods in music, one of them is truly Mark Hollis! His last two albums with Talk Talk (Spirit of Eden and Laughingstock) are just beyond words! And of course his self titled solo album fits to this description 100% too! They are MAGIC!!!
