Piper Laurie in Hesher

Hesher is an independent film. Funny but pretty vulgar. A nyhoo, Piper played an elder who was very sweet natured and quite tolerant. I didn't recognize the actress as she was heavy set and looked elderly in the movie, which came out in 2010. I wonder if, in fact, Piper had truly put on weight and aged significantly( she was 20 years older than when she acted on TP) or was she very artfully made up and padded to look much older and quite overweight.
