Your favorite soundtrack/film scores. Post them here!

Post by Soolsma »

I started a darkjazz/badalamenti themed music thread a while back but it didn't really catch on... No wonder, obscure as it is.

Now, I'm very curious about the taste of other forum members when it comes to soundtracks. For me, sometimes, an OST composer can out-rule both directors and/or actors as the most quintessential towards the aesthetic value of a film.

Here's one of my straight up favorites and an example of exactly that: Gustavo Santaolalla.

Music from Babel (2006)

Code: Select all

To embed a youtube link: copy the code that's BEHIND watch?v= in the youtube url and paste it between the tags.
So yeah, another music thread..

EDIT: HOLY SHIT MY 777TH post! MR JACKPOTS HELLLLLLLLLooooooooooo-OOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm a total film music geek. I love a lot of the highly regarded greats: Morricone, Herrmann, Williams, etc.

Toru Takemitsu is among the best but isn't quite as heralded.

The only film score composed by Denny Zeitlin:

One of the byproducts of the golden age of television has been some great television scores. It'd be hard to find a film score as rich, eclectic and evocative as the music Bear McCreary made for Battlestar Galactica:

Great thread idea Soolsma!

Along the lines of the Lynch/Badalamenti relationship, I love the soundtracks Popol Vuh did for Werner Herzog:

& the work Goblin did with Dario Argento:

I think some youtube videos just won't embed. I changed the ones that wouldn't to links.
