I would bet my favorite pair of socks that we'll never see Wally again. His transience is built into his character. He's not going to stay in one place. The road is his dharma!

As for who his father is, I don't think the Wally scene drops ANY clue about that. The joke with Wally is that he has NO PERSONALITY. He's a guy who thinks he's Marlon Brando, though he bears no resemblance to him and can't even do a good impression. It's a joke about people, particularly young people, who don't have any character of their own yet, so they model themselves after an icon. Wally takes it to the comic extreme. It's brilliant for one scene, but could turn into a bad SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE character if they flog it anymore. So, I doubt that they will.

Speaking of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, the Wally scene instantly reminded me of an old SNL sketch from the 80s in which Jon Lovitz is a big Woody Allen who also talks and acts exactly like Woody Allen. It's another joke about a man without a personality of his own.

The reaction to Wally has been overwhelmingly positive (with some minor exceptions) and deservedly so IMO. The scene becomes even more hilarious on repeated viewings. Cera and Forster are obviously the standouts but Goaz's reactions to Wally's speech are also incredibly funny.

I loved Wally Brando-scene. Such a pompous display. The admiration of both Andy and Lucy and the contrast with Truman's scepticism is great as well.

I'm joining the appreciation society!

You think he's never going to come back? Quite likely both ways and I don't have any expectations here. If it stays a one-scene appearance I'm quite fine with that. Perhaps he'll meet Albert somewhere else ;-)

Btw, never heard about Michael Cera. He did a really good job here's all I can say.

For me the nature of the character is ridiculous. His look, how he talks, the stupid and empty-headed speech... All is insignificant and unbearable.

I'm curious to see what further scenes with Wally Brando would be like. Does he ever relax his Brando performance? Does he ever sit for a slice of pie at the Double R and just have a semi-normal conversation? :D

Not a fan of Wally but a scene with Albert/Wally could be fun.

The journalists who are raving about Wally are saying it shows how wonderfully weird Twin Peaks and David Lynch are. But the Lewis and Clark bit makes me think it's perhaps more of a Frost one, no?

Just between us I'm guessing Wally has never been outside the county lines where Twin Peaks resides.

Yeah, agreed. His speech feels very Frost.

I agree it's probably Frost who wrote the monologue. I've read that that's his sort of thing.

Lynch's dialogue seems fairly minimalistic.

The fact that he looks so fresh-faced suggests you may be right.
A biker like that is going to get beaten up a lot.
