If you know the movie Three Faces of Eve, you know the story (simplified from a real case) of a wo MN an with multiple personalities: suppressed, daring, and, finally, "normal" (relative to the 1950s' gender biases). Seems to me that Cooper is going through the same process: super-focused hero, BOB-Cooper, and normative Dougie. Lynch has long been interested in psychological integration, and I believe the remainder of the series will be the fitful adaption of Cooper in a more ordinary persona. Of course, i could be wrong....
