Owls?

Post by nick1218 »

I know not every mystery will be answered, not every thread continued but Im surprised the owls have just been totally abandoned. I did see a ceramic owl in Dougie's kitchen, but that's it. I also know the book kind of sort of gave an answer, but it didnt really (to me anyway)>

There was an owl flying over Dougie's house in episode 4. Other than that we've got the owl cave ring and possibly the strange shape on the Ace of spades and Hawk's map. But compared to the show, yes, there seems to be a diminished role up to this point.

Aside from what's been mentioned, I seem to recall some whooshing sound (which was probably played backwards) in the scene where Hawk is at Glastonbury Grove. I took that to be owls flying about.

There's an early scene (maybe it was in the Casino manager's office) where someone asks "who...?" and Dougie-Coop repeats "who", and I thought that this was an intentional reference to him almost remembering owls. (Though it could merely be about Coop not remembering his own identity.)

There may be other subtle references that I'm forgetting.

We haven't had a lot of night scenes, especially not in the woods. I expect that since there have been references to owls, we've not heard the last of them. In any case, they're better in smaller doses.

Lucy is wearing a pocket watch with an owl and on the corner shelf in the Sheriff's Department is a little white figure that might be an owl.
