Sherilyn Fenn's latest projects & career

Post by Qyle Cooper »

Sherilyn Fenn's been pretty rare lately. Probably due to the birth of her second child.
As she often says she's disillusioned with acting, and as many of her projects went unrealized, and with the lawsuit against her, I was afraid she might decide to quit acting.

However, she's back at work. Here are her latest projects :

a guest appearance on House M.D. episode 5x11 "Joy To The World", aired December 9th. However, she made a very brief appearance on that episode (I still don't get it, how could she possibly be that much underused!! Are producers blind or what?)

More interesting, a black comedy called The Scenesters, shot in July 2008.
The film was made by "The Vacationeers", a comedic film group that features Todd Berger, Kevin Brennan, Jeff Grace, and Blaise Miller.
The shooting started July 14th in Los Angeles.
The film follows a would-be filmmaker moonlighting as a crime scene videographer. When murder scenes show the pattern of a serial killer, the filmmaker's producing partner enlists the case detectives in a scheme to make a movie of the ongoing case. Everyone winds up in court, where Sherilyn Fenn plays an district attorney sorting through everyone's stories.

Here's a picture of her in the film : http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4 ... id=1952415

Here's a promo clip for the film on youtube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wY_ms3G ... re=channel

Here are some links about the film that I found :

Information from http://www.thescenestersmovie.com/ :
The Story
The Scenesters is an innovative and quirky murder mystery that both honors and deconstructs the conventions of the classic "who-done-it?" film noir. A dark comedy that uses the "found footage" approach to storytelling, the film will compile supposed "real" clips from a variety of sources - courtroom transcripts, crime scene videography, news reports, etc - all detailing how a group of Los Angeles twentysomethings got mixed up in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a prolific serial killer.

The Project
The Scenesters, a deliberately low-budget (sub 200K) "found footage" film designed to maximize investor profit (same budget as Swingers). One prominent L.A. Casting Director called the script, "Pulp Fiction meets Scream, shot with the realism of Blair Witch." The movie will feature the comedy group The Vacationeers and other yet-to-be famous talents to preserve the "reality" aspect of the film's marketing.
I asked about Fenn on the Facebook page for The Scenesters and producer Kevin Brennan answered :
She plays A.D.A. Barbara Dietrichson. Her agent submitted her for the project. We met with her and fell in love. She is an amazing actress and was a complete pro.

Thank you Annie!
I'm new on this forum
I'm a huge fan of several Twin Peaks actors, especially Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee and Joan Chen :D
glad to see there's a strong Audrey fan club on this site ^^

By the way, I asked on facebook about the premiere of "The Scenesters" and Brett Thompson's (one of the producers of the film) answer was :
We're just beginning the 2009 competitive festival season, and we will make sure to let everyone know when/where we decide to have our film's premiere. It's an exciting period for all of us, and we want to maximize the film's exposure to potential buyers at the right time.

yeah, don't think I didn't notice this thread. Thank you so much for the info.

I can't wait to check this out. I don't think Fenn could every get something as fantastic as the writing and the creation of the Audrey character -in the first half of the series at least, but I think she's just great -and always smile a little bit when I see her working.

*I personally think it would be a hit if she had a small arc on Desperate Housewives and has a run in with MacLachlan's character.

again, thanks so much for the links.
God, I love this music. Isn't it too dreamy?

I'm sure Mr. MacLachlan would find some reason why this would be inappropriate and talk the writers out of it

It'd be a great business decision for ABC. Putting her on the show wouldn't push away any current fans and would certainly pull in at least some lingering TP folks who were in love with them together way back when - gaining eyeballs without losing any is a win. I've always wondered why Hollywood doesn't capitalize on squandered chemistry.

I've been waiting for a romantic comedy with Duchovny and Anderson in it as well, with just enough veiled reference to their chemistry on X-Files so as to poke a little fun without infringing on Fox's rights. Surely the chemistry between Kyle M and SF would be worth at least doing a cameo of her in DespHous just to gauge the audience response.

Not to threadjack, but Sheryl Lee was originally supposed to play Mary Alice Young on Desperate Housewives.

I don't know why Sheryl couldn't make it, but they put Brenda Strong in instead. Brenda Strong played Jones in Twin Peaks.

The producers felt Sheryl was 'too ethereal' as Mary Alice Young but said they'd like to work with her in the future.
