"Welcome to Twin Peaks" Postcard Collection ( *update )

Post by PackardSawmill »

About the " Welcome to Twin Peaks Postcard Collection " >

I have always wished there was a Twin Peaks Gift Shop you know, nestled inside the warm great northern, just waiting for true twin peaks fans to arrive - When I was visiting the Snoqualmie/Northbend Wa. area years ago, I was taken by the compelling beauty and wonder of it all - and have been changed ever since ! While I was there I would have certainly loved to plunder the twin peaks gift shop at the great northern ( salish lodge ) As many twin peaks fans know, of course, there is no twin peaks gift shop. And like many of you I have, over the years, picked up every dvd release, the twin peaks memoribilia, photos, and anything I can find to add to my growing collection. Wishing there was a kind of gift shop that offered the postcards, I decided just to create them myself, and include my "welcome to twin peaks" postcard collection to the originals. Making a more complete collection.

As I do love twin peaks, I wanted it represented well and more completely than the original 61 postcards, ( whereas a dozen were prized inside the 2007 gold box dvd set, for those of you who haven't seen them ) For right now, I am just keeping it free, ( so download them while you can! ) if the fans put their support behind it, I would be interesting in a licensing and distribution effort and I would entertain a release of a complete expansion postcard set. But for now I am just making it happen, creatively and for fun. I am just having great time going through the series and all of my screenshots and finding my absolute best moments, characters, and scenic shots that show the beautiful world of twin peaks. Images that I feel capture the true essence of the twin peaks, in a way that I feel picks up where the original 1-61 left off. I love the original postcards, especially the bridge #4, catherine and josie #42, and the giant # 43, but in no way could just 61 cards completely fulfill and express the world of twin peaks !

My selection criteria is as follows: The most iconic, memorable or mysterious imagery that defined this amazing series in an undefinable way, with only a strong retention of the irrational or the abstract, All other qualifying characteristics fell secondary. Plus it should go without saying that these images may represent a well performed-memorable character, a contextual position of a scene or of the series as a whole, but mostly there is a feeling expressed in each that is of significance. All attempts to maintain the original integrity of these images and stills has been taken. Unlike the screenshots used by the 61 total count original release postcards, I have not cropped, or edited the original framing, with respect to the cinematography of the original framed shot. The twin peaks postcard collection of images, has not been retouched and has been left untouched, with respect for the quality and integrity of their original presentation. All other used images have been from my ever growing and massive twin peaks folder, and collection of stills, any trademark or copyright violation is unintentional, and will be respected. Free to download, email to a friend, etc. enjoy ;)

wow, these are incredible. And seem to be seamless with the initial series. Great selection so far.

Thanks audrey !
I hope everyone enjoys them, hopefully they will offer a fresh look
or a fond memory of a forgotten scene. I have just updated the site,
http://thegreatnorthern.org/tppc.jpg

So far 62 - 100 have been completed.
And I really like them all so far. This is definately going in the right
direction for what I was expecting, and I think I might get to 200
for completion. This gives me enough room to include all the characters
I want, and add alot of extras of course - lots of surprises coming ..
A friend had a "wilder card" suggestion, will have to experiment with that,
have been considering a kind of wild card/gold border/ special series,
just to be consistent with the originals, but will be making them all very unique
In my own way, to what I feel will be an improvement over the first 1-61 .
Although nothing can beat an authentic david lynch signature !

Very nice idea and good performance :) But what interested me most were the gifs from your page. They're quite massive (it takes about a minute to load) which isn't actually a flaw, because their quality is brilliant once fully loaded.

I love these -have to figure out a way to print them up and not lose the quality. So good.

Hmmm, not a fan of card #161. Kinda like when scrolling through them it has Audrey in #162 doing the eyeroll at the card above it.

Thanks audrey !
getting down to the last few postcards, only going to 200
I am saving the best for last of course .. any guesses ?

Of course I could/would create postcards indefinitely, however
I am actually going to print and add these to my collection of the
original 1-61 postcards, and I felt 200 was enough to
really include all that I thought was excluded by the first 61.
I really want to represent the show well, and I am putting
as much thought and time into it, as I feel it deserves,
Just was not satisfied with the commercially produced 61
cards in their entirety. Besides, they left out so many good
characters/moments !

Would love to hear all suggestions before I reach 200,
will be adding a panoramic card series, 3 cards that when
put side by side, create a nice twin peaks landscape view.
Also, the evidence cards have been added too.

beautiful work. great choices. They seem seamless with the originals.

some of the moments captured on the cards are more exciting than the events themselves in the actual episodes- the backend portion of the series. It makes me want to go what that moment, and then I remember I'll be disappointed. Great work. Great site.
