Twin Peaks in one sentence ?

Post by perno »

"How would you describe Twin Peaks in one sentence ?"
That's the question I ask my friends when they see the show for the first time. I think it's interesting to know what they have understood of the show before they see the movie.

So... What's your answer ?

Here's mine (select to highlight) :

Twin Peaks is about a town that has watched, without helping her, a young woman struggling against her incestious father untill he kills her.

It's like I'm having the most beautiful dream... and the most terrible nightmare, all at once.
I can come up with a lot of single sentences to describe Twin Peaks, and I don't think a single one does it justice, but this one has always stuck with me.

If we're going off lines from the show, I've always liked Jerry Horne's "Is this real, Ben? Or some strange and twisted dream?"

But if I'm coming up with one sentence to summarize the show, I'd say it's: Straight-arrow FBI agent Dale Cooper is dispatched the secluded Pacific Northwestern logging town of Twin Peaks to investigate the strange murder of local homecoming queen Laura Palmer, and gradually uncovers a dark and seamy underbelly beneath the town's idyllic surface.

The idea was to give a sentence to summarize the show (and movie) rather than a quote from TP.
A sentence to "explain" TP rather than one to tell "what it is".

Even if both of your quotes are quite cool. :)
