Leland's jacket in episode 2 = the floor of the Black Lodge!

In reviewing Twin Peaks for footage for my recent "˜Peaks and Recreation' mash up I came across something extraordinary that I had somehow missed in my many viewings of the series before

In episode 2 (three though if you count the pilot) the pattern on the jacket Leland Palmer is wearing when he breaks down dancing with Laura's picture is.THE SAME PATTERN AS ON THE FLOOR OF THE BLACK LODGE.

How subtle and spooky is that? I've seen the series maybe 5 times through so far and only noticed this now! With Lynch behind this episode it just can't be a coincidence...Especially since Leland's breakdown cuts to Cooper in bed, going into the dream sequence....But...even if it is still a coincidence, what a perfectly fitting one!

Has this been discussed before? I am pretty sure I can't be the only one to have noticed this!

This HAS to be a coincidence, though an awesome one at that. Nice eye man!

Really? Lynch directed this episode, and him and Frost knows from the beginning who killed Laura. Dancing midget and dancing Leland in this episode, and now this. I'm not so sure it was a coincidence... Awesome discovery G42!

Wow - that's a hell of a find.

I'm inclined to think it was deliberate, given that they occurred in the same episode - but I may be biased by simply wanting it to be an ingeniously subtle clue.

I would be incredibly surprised, and delighted, if it was deliberate. Maybe something to ask Mark sometime since he is pretty active on the internet? I would bet it'd be pretty hard to forget something like this, since you would have either had to find the perfect jacket or get it made yourself. Then again, I guess the floor could've been designed based on his jacket.

I still don't think it was deliberate haha.

Also man I need to get to making me an avatar, posting too much to be anonymous naked poster.

I'll tweet it to Mark Frost and see! I've had a few nice back and forths with him on Twitter before, so we'll see....

So I tweeted the info to Mark Frost. He retweeted it but did not add any comment on whether it was a coincidence or a sneaky hint by Lynch. So...the plot thickens? Maybe! Maybe not. Still it was cool to be retweeted by Mark Frost!

This floor design was used previously by Lynch in Eraserhead and Dune.

Ah yeah that's right! All the more reason to think the pattern's usage in the jacket was definitely intentional by him. Yeaaaaah!

I feel like I've heard this revelation before (about the floor and the jacket) but I can't remember when or where... and somehow it must have slipped my mind. Now I'll remember it for good! It's a great discovery and well... you never know but my guess is: it WAS intentional. Same episode, Lynch the director, the dancing of both characters which starts in this very episode and this very scene where Leland is wearing this very jacket... if it had just been a coincidence, it would in fact be more - Lynch's twisted subconcious!

It's the floor design in the chamber where they drown the worm to get the Water of Life - a deleted scene.
