And we're bound to get some tidbits or at least hints from Frost during his book tour (my guess is he'll be doing interviews as well over the next couple weeks as well to promote the book). Stay positive!baxter wrote:Any disappointment today is immediately removed by having the book in only a few more days...
Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
They can call it 'reboot', the can call it 'continuation or they can call it 'pumpkin pie' for all I care.Rudagger wrote:Eh, reboot has always had ambiguity to it anyway.
Star Trek was rebooted (but the old canon still exists in the world of story)
Knight Rider was rebooted (and David Hasselhoff's character returned for a cameo).
Ghostbusters was rebooted (and wiped the slated clean)
Batman Begins was rebooted (and wiped the slate)
So, it can apply to both (though, it is admittedly more associated with the latter)
So, now that nothing was shown at the festival, what's everyone's next guess? Didn't that very first teaser get dropped around Christmas time last year (December 18th 2015), so, maybe one will get released around the same time this year. That would be somewhere in the 4-6 month mark from the show premiering (presuming it's between April to June).
As long as its good, no 'great', that's all that matters.

That would have been wonderful, but it was not to be! I know I am entitled to absolutely nothing at all, but the sheer lack of ANYTHING re: S3 other than stuff to spend more $$$ on (which I of course happily did) has left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth (Lynch's fake-out "aw, we're outta time" tease didn't help.)Jerry Horne wrote:I can see it now. That is so frustrating for me, I can't even imagine how much it was for the attendees. Lynch is a great troll, though.djerdap wrote:Here's Lynch "talking" about new Twin Peaks at the festival:

If this is not a confirmation that scoring has started, then I don't know what else could be. The third guy is Riley Lynch, right?
This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee.

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Based on the scant info we have so far, it's silly to call the new season a "reboot." A reboot totally wipes the slate clean, ignoring (and often contradicting) everything that has previously happened in the franchise. (See Casino Royale, Batman Begins, etc.)
TPS3 might be a "soft reboot," a somewhat mushy term that gets thrown around for movies like Jurassic World, Creed and The Force Awakens. This refers to a fresh take on a franchise, which exists within the same continuity as earlier installments, but downplays the old continuity and introduces new characters and scenarios, thereby acting as an ideal entry point for new viewers. All "soft reboots" are also, by their nature, sequels, since they continue the story of earlier installments.
Once we see the series, we'll be able to judge whether or not it acts as a "soft reboot" - it does indeed sound as if that's the case. However, calling it a sequel is perfectly accurate based on everything we know - and it seems EXTREMELY unlikely that it will be a "reboot" within the literal meaning of the term.
