I really into the return, and this episode was awesome and scary. Man, the new series is DARK.

So-
"You're still with me, that's good." I'm surprised I haven't seen more conjecture on this- but it makes me think about his previous "call" to (presumably) Jeffries, where he tells him he is to return to the lodge. Clearly there is competition about who gets to "be with" BOB. Is DoppelCoop plotting against Jefferies? Is it the real Jeffries or his shadow self?

I enjoyed the scene, but I'm a little curious about how the casino stuff is going to play into the larger narrative, seems like it could end up being just a vehicle to reach a catharsis, and that feels a little hollow to me.

Definitely think it would be cool if the finger prints ended up being mirror images, but wouldn't that not work if CODIS is how they found DoppelCoop in the first place?

Love how the music is creeping in, and as many of us have predicted it seems to be tied to DroolCoop's slow awakening. I love that it was just drums, will we slowly add more pieces of the band? Music in this series is clearly tied to the rare moments of true emotion, which actually leads me to a larger point-

I really think any of the weirdness, awkwardness, and glaring obliviousness both in Vegas, but particularly in twin Peaks is tied to the fact that something is seriously WRONG. The world is out of balance. What kind of havoc has DoppelCoop being out for 25 years wreaked on the planet as a whole? Things seem very off, with tiny moments of clarity. I'm wondering if "the return" (which at this point is obviously not just referring to the series itself) is also not simply Dale's return, but a slow return to innocence for the world as a whole as this battle between good and evil plays out.

Jail phone call scene was rad and terrifying, loved it.

What the hell is going on in Argentina?!

Loved the melancholy of the statue scene at the end. Poor dale. I didn't catch the Harry connection, but duh, that's so cool.

Finally- I do think the Key may be "what's missing"

Definitely would rather binge this. Episodes are frustrating.
I'm back in style!

The pictures I received were the Statue, Nadine, Jerry watching Jacoby, Nadine at the table, and Buenos Aires.

I totally missed that, is that when he's in the car?

Yes. Towards the end of the scene.
I'm not sure it was "backwards" or just a double blink from a sleepy kid, but upon second viewing I definitely noticed it.
Agent Cooper. Listen to the sounds.
It is in our house now. It all can not be said aloud now.

I loved each of the parts 1 trough 4 But while watching part 5 tonight I think I laughed more, got more terrified at moments, and just generally got even more into it than before. I'm a tiny bit surprised when I see a comment about it being a dip in quality or the weakest one so far, I only had time to rewatch a few scenes to make sure I wasn't overhyping it somehow but it's the experience that counts. Try not to want to rush into answers. Enjoy the Unknown. The whole coop in the elevator going up to level 7 with the coffee and the guy standing next the reception clutching 12 coffees motionless was straight out of a Lynch / Bacon painting - even reminded me of some old Herzog framing. Unbelievable. And the doppleganger coop "phone call" had me in stitches. Totally outrageous scene in the best possible way. I could go on and on.

I got a kick out of the scene with Trumans' wife too, an unpopular scene for some reason. I thought Doris was spot on perfect in that. Reminded me of my mum on a bad day!

I get the impression that Becky is not Bobby's daughter. I feel like if Bobby and Shelly were together, then Lynch/Frost wouldn't make such an effort to obscure Shelly's last name in the credits. And also I doubt that Becky would be able to get away with such open drug use if her father was a cop (and a former drug dealer who is likely more apt at spotting red flags and warning signs).

Is it possible that Leo survived his spider bites, and all the venom turned him into a kind and loving savant-type, the kind that Shelly felt too guilty to leave? Similar to how Ed shot Nadine's eye out and then felt morally obliged to stay with her.

Maybe Shelly and Leo did have a child, before Leo was fatally felled by another catastrophic life experience (lighting striking, alien abduction, choking on a kazoo). But by that point, maybe Bobby had already moved on and found someone else though.

I would just love it if Becky has some kind of shrine to her father Leo, and it uses that same drag black and white photo of Leo that they used at his competency hearing in the original series. Or a still of Leo wearing sunglasses and a birthday hat.

I think people who are married will appreciate the Truman/Doris scene.

Sometimes you just gotta let the Mrs. go off on a rant without interrupting her. Then calmly lay down the facts when she's drawing breath.
Perfectly done

Wondering if this scene and its style connects more with our non-American audience?

"Get a bigger bucket" reminded me a bit of Mr. Creosote from The Meaning of Life: "Better get a bucket..."

Also agree that married people will appreciate it more. Wife and I did. :)

It was good, but it left me wanting for more -- probably because it was the first time a part was aired on it's own ! So yeah, I was a bit disappointed not to see Gordon & Albert (and whoever is the person they were talking about at the end of Part 4), but still, there's a lot I liked.

- Dougie storyline is still great ! As Needleman said, it's the heart of "The Return". Felt very "Playtime" to me as well. The elevator sequence is brilliant : "Dougie, get out of the way !!!" . I also love how a lot of Dougie's co-workers are, in fact, as much "babies" than him. The air on Frank's face when he taste the Green Tea coffee for the first time is priceless. Pure Lynch ! I like also how Tom Sizemore, which I was expecting to be a gangster, is playing a boss favorite.

- It's funny that some of you are talking about MD or Blue Velvet, because the part reminded me personnally of Lost Highway. The song at the beginning, during the Las Vegas shots at night, the scene with BadCoop on his cell (great morph ! reminded me of Francis Bacon), the saxo during the concert on the RR... Plus, the acting from James Belushi -- as I had foreseen in the old spoiler section -- was very close to Robert Loggia's on Lost Highway. Anyway, I love how the parts are like a mix of all Lynch previous works.

- I don't think the part was "well-balanced" like some of you said. Between the Dougie storyline on one side, and the Twin Peaks scenes (with Forster's wife or Jacoby's speech) on the other, the episode felt very, very comedic, much more than the previous ones. Not that it's a bad thing per se, but it didn't feel to me like a perfect exemple of what can be a "The Return's episode" (as LostIntheMovies is saying). The tone was much more lighter than the first four parts and I'm surprised it's not more discussed from this angle.
I know I laughed a lot. For this reason, by the way, I found the line at the end from "Richard Horne" very interesting and meta : "I'm gonna laugh when I fuck you, bitch!". Maybe we're not gonna laugh very long...

Anyway, weakest part with Part 2 so far (Part 1/Part 3 > Part 4 > Part 2/Part 5). Hope we're going to see some Gordon/Albert scenes next week !!!

I mean, Lynch turned the LMFAP into a braintree so maybe he turned Jeffries into a box.

By the way, I recall DoppelCoop had some kind of a device when calling Jeffries in one of the earlier episodes. Did it look anything like that box at Buenos Aires?.
Part of me can only hope. Judging by the "evolution of the arm" and the inclusion of Frank Truman I get the vibe that DL was unwilling to recast anyone for this series, and if Bowie didn't secretly film something (who other than Heather Graham is my only pick for a top-secret cameo) this would possibly be the only logical route.

Everybody's speculating that Tim Roth will be the new Jeffries (and out of all the actors on the cast list he would personaly be my number 1 pick for a recast), but how can one replace and live up to Bowie?

I can understand why some find the Dougie's fest tiresome but as for me I'm fine with that. Dale spent the last 25 years or so stuck in the Lodge and is then thrown outside in the real world. Do you really believe he would snap out of it as easily as seeping at a cup of coffee? It would be ridiculous and lame. I thin it will be a long and painful path until he find himself again. It won't obviously take the whole season for him to do so (although...) but it won't happen with a snap of the fingers either.

Anyway, so DoppelCoop is still with Bob. The morphing is a "blink and you'll miss" it moment. Do you think he will end up escaping or what?

I'm not seeing it. I've gone back and watched that scene a couple times and all I see is a very intense Coop. I'm pretty good at picking up subtleties like you're talking about, but this one I'm just not seeing.

I agree with this assessment. Every Showtime promo shows Ccoper driving somewhere, presumably to Twin Peaks, and he certainly could not do that in his present state. And part of the show is his journey back to TP. I don't think it will be teased out to the end. I think it will be soon.
