This scene was horrific. The look, the mood and how the scene plays out, it's the most scared i've been in TP. The sense of foreboding when Albert and Gordon are talking after. Caged DoppelCoop definitely benefits from the Silence of the Lambs effect, I can only imagine that he's going to get loose again and the fear factor will lessen somewhat (for me, anyway).crazyscottishguy wrote:
I loved how evil Cooper tried hard to give his best "impersonation" of old Cooper. It almost verges on sinister.
Parts 3 & 4 - Call for help & ...brings back some memories (SPOILERS)

That would certainly be very cool if Major Briggs was trying to protect Annie. I still believe Annie will be addressed somehow. I would think Bad Coop would have been the one to kill Major Briggs (this is just a theory). But if so, wouldn't he have tried to kill Truman too? Unless they are planning a surprise cameo for Michael Ontkean, I think it would have been more effective (& climatic) to have had him kill off the character.RoddimusPrime wrote:I haven't seen any of this mentioned, hopefully I didn't miss it--- here's a possibly wild theory:
Last bit, and the wildest speculation: the coordinates lead to Annie, whom the Bad Coop wants. Major Briggs was protecting her by completely removing any mention of her from the dossier (ie, Mark Frost's Secret History of Twin Peaks). I thought I recalled hearing Mark Frost suggest the dossier would appear in the series. Perhaps it'll be in Part 5, which is titled/described as "Case files." on the Showtime website. We've met Tamara Preston, after all.

Well a lot of people do care about "How's Annie". I think we will find out at some point...qbin2001 wrote:Who cares? I'm not.krishnanspace wrote:Also Hows Annie? No mention of hers

While these hours had very little of the old-school 'Peaks' humor, I do think Gordon's "Cossacks are in Russia" is a new classic.
Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
One part that actually got to me emotionally, and I didn't expect it at all, was Cole's reaction to Albert's information leak confession. He looks hurt for a while, then somewhat understanding. Lynch is a bloody good actor!

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
I found the first 4 episodes to be tremendous in nearly every way. I loved where it went and while it certainly had a different feel, you're kidding yourself if you thought it wouldn't. It's been 25 years after all. It should be different. Both in story and in how it's presented.
I loved the humour and feel that the dragged out awkward bits were classic Twin Peaks style humor. Pine Weasel... Confederacy... I mean that stuff dragged on quite a bit as well and despite some not enjoying it, I look back on fondly.
HELLLLOOOOOOO!!! Everything in the casino had me in stitches. Loved the Wally scene (Forster was incredible).
I even "dug" the Dougie thing after a while. I didn't like it so much at first (besides inside the casino when he was anonymous), but I found it all great by the end of the episode.
My only genuine gripe is that there is far too little music... though when it's actually in Twin Peaks, the music seems to occur much more often, which bodes well in my mind. If that's the direction it's going then it will be a welcome direction.
It's Twin Peaks, it's supposed to be absurd, and absurd it WAS.
I plan on watching all 4 again tonight. I feel like the buzz of it being back caused me to miss a few things I've read about here, and I NEED to see it again. I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

Harry not being here is a bit tough. I love the actor who plays Frank Truman, but Harry and Coop were the best friends team up on TV. I am wondering who the woman Albert and Gordon could be talking about. Annie seems to be the odds on favorite yet there is Diane, Audrey Horn and maybe even Donna. I can't wait to see the next episode on who can that be.

Harry and the LMFAP as well will be missed, but what can you do?lotjx2 wrote:Harry not being here is a bit tough. F*&^ you Gene Kelly

I'm 99% sure it's Diane, who will be Dern.lotjx2 wrote:Harry not being here is a bit tough. I love the actor who plays Frank Truman, but Harry and Coop were the best friends team up on TV. I think the Dougie thing could have been done differently. Coop could have been disorientated without appearing faintly ridiculous. We have a lot invested in this character. Are we supposed to believe his wife doesn't notice he appears brain damaged?
Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
Was anybody else reminded of The Cowboy and the Frenchman when Cole was shown the picture of the creature in the cube? "WHAT the HELL?"

I definitely think Bad Coop killed Major Briggs--- or possibly Briggs faked his death or was taken to the Lodge somehow. The detail that he died in a fire is significant.v2david wrote: That would certainly be very cool if Major Briggs was trying to protect Annie. I still believe Annie will be addressed somehow. I suppose that in my theory, Bad Coop would have killed Briggs because of the information regarding Annie or because he knew that Coop was a doppelganger (according to the Secret History's clue: "Fear the Double."), so Truman wouldn't necessarily been targeted.

Agreed. It was ridiculous. Didn't work for me at all.douglasb wrote:I think the Dougie thing could have been done differently. Coop could have been disorientated without appearing faintly ridiculous. Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
One thing I think EVERYONE can agree on - Kyle MacLachlan is tremendous. Think about the number of different characters he had to play - and different facets or versions of each of those characters - across these 4 eps.
On that note, Evil Coop scares the shit out of me.

This was a vision, fresh and clear as a mountain stream. The mind revealing itself to itself.
