Okay, I admit you might be on to something here. It's too early to tell. I didn't like the scene at all but will reappraise it if the series gives me reason(s) to do so. Same thing with the New York City scene(s) and that horrible (and I don't mean it in a good way) CGI-ed alien-like thingamy - I've seen better effects in a third-rate, bottom-of-the-barrel, direct-to-video horror flick...mtwentz wrote:They were not blathering nonsense. -Ben is till running the great hotel and has hired an attractive assistant. He denies having sex with her, but there may be something there.
-Jerry is running a marijuana edibles company.
-There is a customer form New York who has lodged a complain, and is comped by Ben for two days. This may or may not be connected to the mysterious billionaire in New York.
It did not stick out to me as good a scene as the brie sandwiches or smoked cheese pig scene, but it was mildly amusing. Certainly not awful in my opinion. The real test is where it leads next.

My thought exactly..adl345 wrote:That's meant to be a theory? I think it's pretty much explicitly explained, in-show story at this point.happyrat98 wrote:But then I read a theory, watched episode 4, and suddenly I think I'm in love.
The doppelganger stated that he had a plan to avoid the lodge. Dougie Jones is a second doppelganger created by the first doppelganger. Instead of the doppelganger, Dougie ends up going back to the lodge. The doppelganger created Dougie Jones, who presumably was leading an actual life, in order to avoid returning to the lodge. Mike tells Dougie that he is created for a purpose that has failed. Dougie then ceases to exist and the real Dale returns to reality, but he is not whole because the real doppelganger still exists. Hence, Mike tells Cooper that one of them must die and that he had been tricked.

The dog leg they found in bad Coop's car - is it by chance a front-left leg? Similar to the numb left arm phenomena?

"Uh, Jim."
An excellent summation of an important aspect of all 3 seasons. Did you have this planned out?
I'm guessing you would look at Dougie and see a normal (if slightly off) suburban dork. Or maybe you would be more like the old woman in the casino who sees what is in front of her eyes.
There's your roast beef and cheese.

What's up with the handyman the cops go to find for the keys?
That actor looks familiar...

Longtime lurker. First time poster (I think).
I can understand and sympathize with others who feel that there are elements to the new show that are not in the spirit of the original Twin Peaks, are poorly realized, etc.
Personally, I'm loving it. Everything that I heard about beforehand and dreaded (Las Vegas, casting choices) I am totally on board with.
But to me that scene with Ben and Jerry was classic Twin Peaks, and so far it was the scene most reminiscent of the writing and acting in the original show. The only crime here is that it wasn't longer.
Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
Same. Especially with Andy saying that she forgets that cell phones exist over and over again and neither of them understands why, and he kinda makes it sound like it's a semi-recent development.Ubermensch33 wrote:I do think something is going on with Lucy - some kind of mental disorder/dementia.
For the Cera thing, everyone I was in the room with was laughing. I thought it was funny and bought Wally as a character and Cera fits. This is the same show that had people like Nadine Hurley and Dick Tremayne after all.

Oh, one thing I had a hard time believing was that apparently barely anyone in town, even the law enforcement, knew that Cooper was the last person Briggs saw alive. And then he dies in a fire the next day? Fishy, and I was surprised that Hawk was surprised, or that Bobby had never told anyone.

Bobby was laying low, after all, he just killed a guy*.ThumbsUp wrote:Oh, one thing I had a hard time believing was that apparently barely anyone in town, even the law enforcement, knew that Cooper was the last person Briggs saw alive. And perhaps the rest of the town just had so much trauma, things got lost. You know, teens dying in various and sundry ways, including being encased in a chess piece, mills burning, Miss Twin Peaks pageant chaos, Robin Lively distracting every man on earth, etc.
* - HOW did Bobby get a law enforcement job after his crime? Will we find out? Was the body never found? After all, they guy is from Oregon, so that's all the way across WA state. Or maybe he was charged with manslaughter and got a good lawyer?
Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
God, these episodes are even better the second time. Just finished my re-watch... I found Preston less annoying this go-around, and that scene with her, Gordon, Albert and Evil Coop way more terrifying for some reason. Props to MacLachlan, who's doing a great job anchoring this piece, swinging between Evil Coop, Catatonic Coop and who knows what else in coming eps.
Also, did we decide who the "1-1-9" woman is? Reddit is saying that she's supposed to mirror the events in the Purple Room in the prior scene.

"119 in France is a free emergency number for beaten children."
Considering the scene, with an addict and a poor kid it might make sense. I also read somewhere that France is somewhat in the story.

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
This may have been mentioned but regarding the "3" and the "15". If we take 1991 as the starting point (When Laura gave cooper the 25 years later message in real world time). Maybe there is a thing that every 25 years you can go in or/out BUT in half that cycle (every 12 iish) years you can go back to that. SO, he wanted to go out in "15", (2015), but the blind lady either is malevolent or did now want him showing up "born again" with Evil Coop as clearly Evil Coop would take out DroolCoop. SO, there is a rule that you can go "back" half the cycle which would be 200"3".
I have had wine and am making this shit up, but roughly if you assume there are full 25 year cycles and some "tricks" at the halfway point, that would make 2003 an important possibility. (Jupiter and Saturn in the opposite of conjunction etc.).
Like someone else said, by the end of Episode 5 this may all be moot.
How blessed we are to "anticipate" what hasn't occurred yet vs. 26 years of over analyzing what had occurred already.
