Wonderful & Strange wrote:Lynch's recent comment that Cooper's experience is more like being born anew into the world makes me wonder if his memory is currently blank, or functionally so.

If so he's not really "DroolCoop" but BabeCoop.

Which raises the question of how will he revive his memory? Or will he?

It's interesting to wonder if that's why Booper (Dopple-Coop?) was so frantic and Bob-like at first - barely able to pass as human and smashing his head into the mirror. Maybe he was also newly born. Now we get to deal with the fully matured monster.

My first post! I'm LOOOOVVVING just not having any preconceived expectations of the new season and just being along for the ride. For me, everything has been perfect and just gets better on repeated viewings.
Here's one thing that I noticed: The first police car to arrive at Bill Hasting's house (when he was arrested) was car 119. I've been specifically taking note of numbers this time around, so when the druggie chick in Rancho Rosa (place or hut of roses?) said "1-1-9!!", my ears really perked up.
When the cops came back to the Hastings' with the warrant, the cop car was 116.

Did Evil Coop plan on getting thrown into jail, or did the Lodge conspire against him?
I think someone else mentioned it, but Evil Coop didn't acknowledge Albert at all... by the end of that interview, Albert was sweating and looked physically ill. Come on, ep. 5!

I really hope Hailey Gates (119!) comes back in later episodes :(

Nice catch on car 119. I am re watching episode 1 tonight after I re watched episode 3 and 4. I will keep an eye for the car.

What do you mean that Coop didn't acknowledge Gordon? Do you mean the word that was pronounced backwards?

This whole thing is vaguely like the Star Trek movie where Spock is reborn. Speaking of Star Trek, Bad Coop reminds me a bit of the Ricardo Montalban (Khan) character from the original Botany Bay episode.

First post, long-time lurker.

Some observations:

Dale was shown to be an experienced gambler at One Eyed Jacks of one recalls the sting operation that led to him getting his suspension from the FBI for conducting business across the border without proper permission.

Could this have anything to do with his behavior in the Casino in Vegas?

Remember, Bad Cooper is clear with Ray, that he does not need anything, he wants, but does not need.

Cooper also never got to have a family of his own, perhaps this is where Janey-E comes in with the kid?

This does seem like a dream-like sequence, however I'm reserving judgement.

Also, Albert does not seem right. Like something is off. He almost seems to be lying further to Gordon by admitting part of the truth.

He seems to be controlling what Bad Cooper says in the interview.

Albert seems to be the one speaking to Bad Cooper in the motel room on the satellite phone.

Did Albert become obsessed with the Black Lodge?

Does Albert want to be back with Bob?

I simply think that Ferrer was seriously too sick to be at his best.

I've thought about that, but when Albert first sees bad Coop it almost looks like he's mouthed the word "Bob".

Also, the voice on the satellite phone when even Bad Cooper is questioning who he's speaking with sounds nothing like the Bowie / Southern accent of Jefferies, it sounds more like Albert.

Finally, Albert's explanation to Gordon outside seems to really mean, he directly gave information to the Bad Cooper. Not that he gave info to Jefferies to give to Cooper.

Why?

He was probably the only one that suspected it wasn't the real Coop and tested him. The real Coop would not have murdered their man in Columbia.

An untainted Albert would never have hidden all this either way from Gordon for years.

I also think Gordon realizes he's being lied to and now he doesn't trust Albert any longer.

Possibly, Albert knew about Earle's study of the Black Lodge for years.

This is going to be a very fun summer!

At the very least, I think Bad Coop may believe Albert could be Jeffries.

I think it would ruin Albert's character though to make him evil. How many evil characters do they need?

I don't particularly get "Albert" from the motel "phone call," although I can see why some people do. The voice appears higher and the intonations wrong -- although it's tough to tell with the voice quality altered and distorted. It sounds more like Mark Frost to me!

Yeah, what we saw of him in the final moments of S 2 finale was definitely majorly erratic behavior, to say the least. I guess it can be contributed to the demon's glee for being free in this world to wreak havoc, although I always took smashing-the-head-in-the-mirror bit as an impulse belonging to the good Dale - as in he was so horrified by what he saw in the mirror he struck out in the only possible way. Of course, that theory pretty much only applies to the explanation that has Dale possessed by evil spirit and not physically split in two (like it seems to be the case, according to Lynch's old statements and what he's showing us now).
What always bugged me, though, is how in the world could the monster walk out of that hotel room after what he pulled off in the bathroom with sheriff Truman and doc Hayward being right outside the friggin' door, for God's sake! And it's not just his smashed and bloody forehead, which makes it pretty clear it couldn't have come from him just slipping on the floor, it was that mocking Annie-related question being repeated over and over and over, accompanied with bloodcurdling screaming laughter of a maniac...

Also, "Booper"... I love that, man! :D

I assumed that Bad Coop smashed his head into the mirror because that's the last action Bob took as Leland.

Geeky OCD credits question! So, Sheryl has been credited in every Part despite only having new material in Part 2. Part 1 has the reused Episode 29 footage, Part 4 has the old homecoming photo featured prominently. As far as I can tell, she doesn't appear at all in Part 3, aside from her superimposed photo in the main title. Am I correct in this? I guess she'll just be credited every episode because her face is in the main title?

So far, Hawk has been the only character besides Coop to "truly" appear in all the Parts. I hope he maintains that record.
