Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
Jade is/was also a character on Invitation to Love. Is Dougie a character in a tv show, namely a 2017 version of Invitation to Love? That might explain why everyone is trying to help him so much, and why people are so quick to disregard his condition. Not to mention the extravagant near assassination he whimsically sidesteps by bending over to pick up his key.
It would be so crazy if Lucy finds Cooper by just turning on her favorite daytime soap.

Yes, right before the scene cuts. Right side.
Something is off about the whole Silver Mustang/Rancho Rosa stuff. Everybody seems to be helping Dougie with his factory reset.

I think that snotty cop is a decoy. Bobby is still in the drug trade.

Cool theory. But what if Rancho rosa is the in-universe production company for Invitation to Love. The rancho rosa place felt like a film set to meCappy wrote:Jade is/was also a character on Invitation to Love. Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
I finally watched parts 3 & 4. I haven’t read this thread (77 pages!), but wanted to put down the following:
- I’m very glad I have catched up and can read this forum again without being worried to run into spoilers of episodes I haven’t seen yet
- Overall I’m a bit disappointed by 3 & 4. Maybe it’s because it’s best you watch them together with 1 &2 (I’ll discover that soon in a rewatch) or maybe my anticipations were too high after the episodes last week which I absolutely LOVED
- Nonetheless great scenes in 3 & 4. Really liked the glitchy beginning of 3 with the fire place room, lever, Major Briggs & the strange lady in red.
- Gordon Cole was epic. Especially the scenes with Bad Coop in the jail (scary!) and his talk with Albert at the end of part 4.
- Chrysta Bell is a real stunner, but for now, I don’t like her character.
- Don’t like the Douggie Jones-parts nor the Wally Brando scene. But maybe they’ll grow on me.
- Will have to do a reread of TSHOTP

The way Bobby darted off to use the restroom was unusually abrupt. Maybe he just really, really had to go?Jerry Horne wrote:I think that snotty cop is a decoy. Bobby is still in the drug trade.
I kind of hope he's turned his life around though. Just because I like his character a lot and don't want to see him screw up anymore. Although it would be a good way to propel the story forward, him selling drugs in an attempt to keep it "safe" from real criminals, and then feeling guilt when that kid OD's at school.
I think I am more shocked by the fact that there is effectively a 'real' police station behind the main entrance area though. I can't wrap my head around real cops existing side by side with Andy and Lucy.
Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
Yeah, I am definitely getting a Truman Show vibe from this. But who would be behind setting up this elaborate scenario just to ease Cooper back into real existence? I'm guessing the Patrick Fischler character is somehow involved.krishnanspace wrote:Or it could be like the Truman Show, where Cooper could be the center of allJerry Horne wrote:Yes, right before the scene cuts. Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
I should know this since I've seen it twice now but wasn't Bobby talking about how he was out there checking the border and he saw nothing but animals etc.? I could be wrong but I'm not buying it.Cappy wrote:The way Bobby darted off to use the restroom was unusually abrupt. Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
That's incredible.
I don't think Bobby is still in the game, though I can see why people would go there. I think Lynch/Frost intend for him to fulfill his father's vision as a man of good. Dana's new THR interview also suggests this is legit. But we'll see. He was good even when he was bad.

The markings on the carpet during the opening shot of the giant remind me of Maddy's carpet vision in the original series.
When we first see the glass box entity it looks like she is holding something yellow for a moment.
Stupid leaks Now I have to stay off the internet until next Sunday.

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
Episode 3 - 56 mins without adverts
Episode 4 - 54 mins without adverts
1and2 combined - 1 hour 47 mins without adverts.
So 45 mins is short for an episode.

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
I really like the idea of Dougie/Cooper being the heart of a TV-series (an echo of Invitation to Love or The Truman Show, or maybe even Life on Mars?), because it mirrors "our" own position as viewers of a soap-series. Can we expect some miracle which materialise this virtual Coop to a real one?
Hmm, the mauve world, this state of non-existence, somewhere or nowhere at all but yet floating in space-time, seems to mirror or predict/forcast events in the "real world (but what is real in a world created by Lynch anyway?). That's how I interpret it.
The 15 on the "time slot machine" evoked an atmosphere of something bad (decapitation? - was Dougie on the list?), and the blind red dressed woman, Naido, helped Coop to find a way out and she managed to change the situation where luck would be on Coop's side. She had to pay a price though; Love is a sacrifice, isn't it?
This changed situation presented a different "inside" with a new red dressed woman; another helper and bringing him fortune. She encouraged him to enter the "time slot machine" that has a 3 now. A lot of crackling shaking and trembling while entering the slot gives the impression of a body being electrified.
On the other side Dougie is now replaced by this New Coop with a hole in is sock. Was his sock on fire? Did he accidentally touch the socket with his toe?
Anyway in the Silver Mustang Casino Dooper finds himself in the Lynchian symmetrical/mirrored scene. Luck is on his side, helped by two red dressed ladies.
PS 2:53 is exactly 7 minutes before 3 o' clock.
