Long time lurker here. I'll say I am quite surprised how some people nag endlessly. The continuation is exactly what it needs to be. It fits perfectly our time and era. No matter what Lynch would've offered. I think a lot of you had prematurely decided to dislike it because of the big lack of atomospheric and talkative continuation from the old show. The whole New York scenes reminisced scenes from Fire walk with me. The tempo, the build up and whatnot. Seemingly, David likes to take his time with most of his scenes and I absolutely like it. Those longer scenes is an indirect objection if you will towards how impatient we've become as individuals. We want everything NOW and FAST!

Sure, I'll admit some scenes werent on par with his true movie making gravitas. But all in all, patience is a virtue and I believe the coming episodes will have a slightly faster pace 'cause basically the first episodes were about how Coop could finally leave the godforsaken Black Lodge. Absolutely loved every second of episode 4, best one yet in my opinion.

Mostly the 1 & 2 thread. But I wanted to post it here as there is much cross-posting by members.

Agreed! My favourite episode as well. Perfect blend of comedy, mystery and suspense imo.

So what's the consensus on if the Red Room scenes are all CGI now or now. I had heard they built a red room set, but they sure look CGI to me. They look fake in a distracting way. Could it just be an illusion of being shot on digital?

Its weird, I love every episode of the series, and loved FWWM from day one. But the new series... I'm not convinced yet. Some of it (Dougie) is just way too goofy. Even Watts' performance! And the lack of anything from Badalamenti is sad. The CGI Red Room and all the effects look awful. Hoping upon hopes that I start to warm to it...
I hope you do too. I haven't rewatched it yet, but in the midst of my tiredness, I began to warm to it, which surprised me, as all these years I longed for a continuation more in line with the series, especially Season 2. Surprisingly, I've just decided to take it for what it is. Maybe I'm just grateful we're getting any "Peaks" at all. It's definitely not the continuation I had in mind - or what I so longed for - but I'm going to enjoy as much of it as I can, and appreciate it for being its own thing. Having said that, I am looking forward to it finding its way back to being more centrally set in "Twin Peaks".
I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

New to the board. But, not to Twin Peaks.

Personally, I really haven't seen alot of Lynch's work other than that so...yeah. But, I'll get around to it soon. I've got alot of films I need to watch. Anyhow...

I loved the new episodes so far.

I'm on board for this being one crazy ride...I'm pretty sure it's not gonna crash like Evil Dale's (Or, Dalevis Coopsley, as I'm calling him) car. :D

My fave parts of 3 and 4 are...

-The surreal outer space scene and Major Briggs' head floating in space. Good to see Don S. Davis again even though he's not with us anymore.
-Helllllllloooooo!!! Mr. Jackpots. That whole thing was super hilariously strange. Especially when the escort he was with at first told him he looked like he had a stroke and gave him money. Why didn't she just call for help herself? LOL. Still, that was fun.
-The whole "Dougie getting ready in the morning" sequence
-Bobby being a cop now and crying at Laura's picture as her theme played (I actually started crying along with him. He broke my heart there)
-Albert and Gordon and "The Cassocks are in Russia!"
-The interview at the prison with Evil Dale (I got spooked there...glad Albert and/or Gordon didn't go in behind the glass with him alone)

My only question though.....

Why the heck is Dr. Jacoby painting shovels?

Henrys Hair wrote:The first thing I thought of was 'Richard and Linda Thompson' although no idea how they might connect to anything in Twin Peaks.
I went googling for well-known Richards and Lindas and uncovered some curious linkages.

First, there's Richard and Linda Hoagland: http://abcnews.go.com/US/missing-indian ... d=43045972
-This Richard Hoagland disappeared in 1993 and was declared dead after 10 years. He was then was discovered after 23 years, remarried with a new family, after having stolen a dead fisherman's identity.

Then there's another Richard Hoagland: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_C._Hoagland
-This other Richard Hoagland is an author best known for conspiracy theories about advanced alien civilizations and government coverups. Can't think of a Linda associated with this Richard other than Linda Moulton Howe, who is also a well-known ufologist and investigator of unexplained phenomena.

Curious linkages, indeed.

Another scene that I think was particularly entertaining and really funny for different reasons than mentioned here is the "CAR SICK!" scene. The more I think about it, the funnier the whole thing is.

You've got Albert, a guy with a long history of forensic work, ultra concerned about the possibility of woman vomiting in the car that he blurts out "Car Sick". Why? I don't know.. I found it funny considering his history. It's almost as if he's trying to scare the car sickness out of her, like one would if they were trying to help somebody else be rid of the hiccups. Then, in the most subtle, yet hilarious way, Tamara waves him off, like "stfu, I got this". I dug the hell out of that character bit from Tamara and it brought a bit of depth to both her and Albert.. and of course, as several others have mentioned before... "The Cossacks are in Russia" was in there for good measure.

A fantastic scene. Can't wait to go relive it again.

He says that Agent Palmer gets car sick; her head is slumped to the side in the front seat. it's a bit difficult to see in the first shot but more obvious in the second one. Cole is asking why her head is like that, and he says "she gets car sick"

Man, I'm over the moon! 26 year wait is over! New Twin Peaks managed to be something else than I suspected and even more than I hoped for in my dreams. It feels like the Lynch Cinematic Universe :) I know, I know, it is still Twin Peaks but there is so much stuff in there from Eraserhead to even INLAND EMPIRE. True art and I'm loving it.

I've seen all four episodes twice and already craving for more (and already listened what Laura really whispered etc. :) ) There is so much to chew on but I feel that this is clear lynchian no-brakes storytelling with just enough scriptorial coherence from Frost to keep it in the road.

BTW I think there was one epic peaksian clue in episode 3: did you happen to notice what was the color of the rose in the vase in the room/spaceship of an american girl? This means Cole really knows something about this place... that also makes the cosmic appearance of Major Briggs way more meaningful...

Oh and all these junky cgi fx are pure gold! Speaking of gold, there was gold inside a golem, inside Rancho Rosa (oRo) and in Jacoby's toolshed... sensory and mental overload, sweet as the driven tube amplifier!
