Has anyone else thought that maybe its only us the audience that sees Dougie as being Coop?
What if the Ike the Spike crime scene interviews air, and a completely different actor is playing Dougie?
But the prints from the pistol would obviously still match, with the left ring finger the right way around...

That would mean Ike's photo of Dougie would be a major cheat, because why would a photo look different?

As unlikely as my theory may be, it was still us that watched the scene with the photo.

Where is that from Jerry? Twitter?

I'm foreseeing a terrible slog in the office tomorrow desperately trying not to read the forum whilst waiting to get home and watch the episode.

I'm not getting my hopes up about Bowie. I'm trying not to. I do wonder if we're getting a very heavy Red Room centered part?

I think this must be plot related, rather than a cameo (though it could be both). The thought occurred that it could be Audrey making her first appearance, but these comments, brief as they are, seem a bit dramatic for that.

In fact, if this is anything less than a totally mind-bending hour of TV (e.g. Part 3), I will now be disappointed!

Or maybe Dougie learns to count?

Ragnell wrote:I admit I think this every week, but I'm going to say we'll see the full Dale resurgence in Part 8. Not a complete restoral of the old young Dale, like he sprang out of a time capsule, of course. But I think his conscious personality will resurface sometime during the next two parts.

The Doppelganger is out of prison and on the move, therefore it's a natural time to get Dale's plot moving as well. We've just learned that he'll resurface to deal with a crisis, maybe he just needs to be presented with a crisis that can't be resolved so quickly. Or this wakeup is like the initial alarm going off, and he'll slowly come to over the next day or so.

I know, I could be wrong, but I don't think Dale's going to be like this for the second half of the story I think he's back before he leaves Vegas, because of how everyone reacts to him. The characters in Vegas are used to the sleepwalking, barely responsive, probably drunk or hungover Dougie. They are not used to a straightforward, active, heroic personality like Dale's. And whatever changes happened from the Black Lodge, that's what the Dougie story proves is the core of Dale Cooper. The character is a hero and a force for change and goodness. Dougie is just Dale Cooper sleepwalking through life, and as he does he manages to better the lives of the innocent around him like the Slot Lady, Green Tea Frank, Janey-E (who received a financial windfall with him as well as a clear husband upgrade) and worsen the lives of the corrupt (Coworker Tony, the Casino Management) without even meaning to. And the two times we've seen the true Dale resurface it's disrupted everything in the scene. First, when he blurted out "He's lying." The entire meeting stopped, and it led to the boss learning about a serious problem at the company. Second, when he fought off Ike the Spike. That disrupted everything so much it hit the news.

Maybe he'll be a little quieter, maybe he'll be a little more distracted, but Dale Cooper is going to wake up in time to spend at least one day with these people as Dale rather than Dougie and it is going to turn Las Vegas Up. Side. Down.
According to my understanding it will be a very very cheap cop-out for a quick and sudden restore of the good old Dale Cooper. So far the story showed us a real physical duality of Dale Cooper, both with distinct competences and properties. Restoring to the old one requires either a confrontation between the two "opposites," or the death of the bad one and some intervention by the Lodge. Well, what I am trying to tell is that a quick and fast, out of the blue, recovering would not feel right to me; it needs a genuine (inner/outer) struggle first. But, this is a Lynch/Frost production so no-one can tell for sure ...
