I think people get too hung up on the phrases white and black lodges. those come from halfassed government attempts to understand some weird phenomena using names from local indian legends. it seems a little more complex than that.

One of the most incredible cinematic experiences I've ever had. Reminiscent of the star gate scene in 2001, definite resonances with Jordan belson and Stan brakhage. Beautiful.

Bob is, in a sense, an atomic Bezoar.

Maybe the bug has entered into Sarah Palmer's mouth?

Otherwise, I'm just trying to absorb this. Incredible, mesmerizing, and even frustrating!

The bomb footage was just incredible. After some crappy effects (see previous discussions), this sequence was, well, a game changer. Lynch and EFX team took stock footage, and re-imagined it in a mind bending way.

For a few minutes, I seriously thought I was watching a remake of Kubrick's 2001.

This is going to take some time to digest.

So, is the Convenience Store suppose to be the gateway between the two worlds?

question - did the orb that had bob coming out of dopplecoop - did it completely leave or is it still in dopplecoop?

So... that being that spat out BOB in the aftermath of the nuclear test. Is that thing the "mother" that American Girl warned of in the Purple Room? As in "you'd better hurry / my mother's coming".

It seems like that vague space where the spirits are formed (or spit up) has similarities to the Purple Room, in that both serve as a launched pad for souls/spirits into the corporeal/earth plane. Also, both have shades of Eraserhead. The monster that spits BOB has a passing resemblance to the baby from Eraserhead, and the Purple Room has cosmic levers that effect change in the lives of mortals (like in the beginning of Eraserhead).

Still in awe of this episode.

Guess that rules out the Hawk-in-every-episode theory then.

i think so - and others have mentioned she's credited as the "experiment" - the same being that killed those two people from the glass box in ny.

The explosion is one of the most frightening pieces of cinematic explosions I've ever seen.
