Agent Cooper. Listen to the sounds.
It is in our house now. It all can not be said aloud now.
Remember 4 - 3 - 0
Richard and Linda. Two birds with one stone.
You are far away.

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)
I didn't read this as direct patriotism (or what I think you might be going for here; syrupy nationalism) on the part of Lynch, though that might be in there somewhere as well. I read it as part of another moment about rediscovering likes and significant imagery, delivered powerfully through Cooper's eyes (or as close as third-person filmmaking will allow). That was the second most moving Dougie scene for me after episode six's hypnotic, melancholy paper doodles.Mr. Reindeer wrote:The American flag shot has to be the most overtly patriotic thing in DKL's career. I found it simultaneously moving and jarring. While his works are frequently obsessed with American ideas, ideals and culture, he rarely if ever addresses the idea of patriotism or even mentions the USA by name in his work. As many have noted, the show/franchise has always portrayed G-men with the old-fashioned sincerity of a Jimmy Stewart movie, and I believe that Eagle Scout DKL intended that moment to play as fully (or mostly) genuine. However, anyone who follows Mark Frost's Twitter has to wonder about his perspective.

You might have to edit this one too as you quoted the spoiler here. FYI It's only spoilers for the episode itself - i.e. you can discuss anything that happens in this episode even if someone else might not have seen it yet. Pretty much all other stuff (especially set stuff) is forbidden I think (unless by PM). BTW If any of that stuff is still on the web, can someone PM me a link?wAtChLaR wrote:-isn't the thread marked spoilers? not sure what the special tag is but i'll editNormonaut wrote:Spoiler tags, please.wAtChLaR wrote: -

I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

I like Bushnell - and seeing the boxer come out when he curled up his fist talking to the detectives.yaxomoxay wrote:Well, Bushnell said that he will start working with Dougie on answers tomorrow.WhiteLodge90 wrote: I hope we get some small answers soon. So the the Las Vegas detectives will presumably find the real Coop's prints and DNA on the coffee mug. Will the FBI realize it's the real Coop because the ring finger print isn't backwards?
Dougie didn't exist before 1997? - Wonder what the car wreck is about.

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)
On the rewatch re the shoes... I think it is not a recall for Cooper. Just the flag stirs something in him. The flashy red shoes on shapely legs guides his attention to the outlet, which also stirs something in his memory. (But I do think the red pump is a Lynch nod to Audrey, just not related to the plot of Cooper's awakening.)
God, I love this music. Isn't it too dreamy?

That whole scene was so odd and random.. Even for Lynch's standards. Maybe it was just used as a plot device to have both Ben and Judd's characters both grieving over loved ones dead and or very ill? Or maybe it was more but I'd be surprised.
The milk will get cool on you pretty soon.
Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)
I'm guessing only the last 4 episodes or so will take place in TP - or Dougie/Coop returning there? Based on the pace so far and some of the upcoming episode titles. Maybe only the last episode! What does everyone else think?

The setting clearly reminded him of a day at the office.Audrey Horne wrote:On the rewatch re the shoes... I think it is not a recall for Cooper. Just the flag stirs something in him. Law enforcement office, American flag, secretary with Diane's shoes carrying case files, and freshly brewed coffee.

Yes, I think it's definitely a nod to the pilot, whether for Coop or not I'm not sure - but definitely a nod from Lynch (and maybe for fans). Did you see the Vanity Fair article yet?Audrey Horne wrote:On the rewatch re the shoes... I think it is not a recall for Cooper. Just the flag stirs something in him. Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)
Jerry's talking shoe unnerved me more than anything else has this season.
Also, I did a slight fist pump when the opening to Night Bells played over the sheriff's station.
No idea why.

Has anyone mentioned 2:53 253 yards? Didn't the Giant mention 253 ?
