Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
Great episode, imo. Surprised to see some of the reactions, although I guess it's expected on dugpa given the sensibilities are somewhat different.
Love all the stuff with the casino and Candie/the girls. Even though it's become significantly more fleshed out in terms of motivations/exposition, there's still a really disturbing quality to all that stuff as a probing of an unseen underworld (the fun casino 'front' Dougie entered in E3 and the 'back' behind it, all connecting like a web to these dark people and sinister activities).
Rebekah del Rio's song was really beautiful too, hit me quite hard in relation to the Log Lady's speech.
What's the song playing during Richard's break-in? I thought it sounded like Mantovani but he wasn't credited at the end.

Have to admit I thought the same thing regarding the body and Briggs, but otherwise feel all those who have passed on have been incorporated well into the story and in a touching and respectful way barring that one depiction which I found a bit tasteless.
I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

Agreed! So unexpected too, and incredible sound design (although given you're in the moment so well I didn't really notice how well he used the sound there until afterwards).Voided wrote:I think this was the most satisfying episodes of the series so far, for me. I had no reservations at all, and there was one genuinely chilling moment...when Cole opens his door.....that really freaked me out.
One of the best scary moments for me so far.

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
Arguably that whole scene is a cartoon-like set-up for the fly to land on the brother and to be swatted. The fact the red cloth gets exchanged for a hard remote at the last minute is just a stroke of slap-stick genius.h2nho wrote:As soon as she got near Robert Knepper with that remote, I knew she'd hit him and that's what the scene was leading up to. It delivered for me. Amy Shiels is clearly digging in as much as she can.garethw wrote:Yyyyyup.djsunyc wrote:anyone else almost think candy was a spirit or ghost until she actually slapped one of the mitchums?
And I thought it was pretty funny, given how freaking hard she smacked him. It was no slap-stick hit.
The ensuing weeping and wallowing was rather less amusing.
I like the way the actor plays Anthony. Really top-notch work.
The best thing for me with Tom Sizemore is when he kept trying to say louder and louder that Dougie was an enemy to the Mitchums, like that would somehow magically convince them. Perfect character choice!
I love Tom Sizemore's ability to play corrupt characters. It's nice that he's able to push that a little more this time. I'm pretty sure, as always, bad things will happen to Anthony.

Can we talk about the Teddy Bear?
How cool was that?
Is that just something they made up or is this based on something which exists?

It seems like one of those Teddy Ruxpin things. Lynch obviously made the head. The face is a complete Lynch thing. He's done cartoony stuff with almost identical faces.nick1218 wrote:Can we talk about the Teddy Bear?

Isn't she a teacher?Soolsma wrote:She doesn't seem like the brightest one. She also could just have not mentioned the letter.mtwentz wrote:It was really stupid of Miriam not to skip town after sending her letter. Or at least buy a gun to protect herself...

Yes you are right. If I had one problem with this episode, it is the fact that Miriam was stupid enough to let Richard know when she had sent the letter. If she was really afraid of him, she could have either gone directly to the sheriff or skipped town. But being in the situation she was in, she should have told him she had already notified the sheriff.KyleRickards wrote:Isn't she a teacher?Soolsma wrote:She doesn't seem like the brightest one. F*&^ you Gene Kelly
Re: RE: Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
It is (or was, in my day) more about being able to tolerate and/or corral the kids. Some of my primary school teachers couldn't find their arse with both hands. She came across as quite a simple soul.KyleRickards wrote:Isn't she a teacher?Soolsma wrote:She doesn't seem like the brightest one. Judging from the title I was expecting (and hoping) to see some new Sheryl scenes, but I guess we should all know by now things are not what they seem.

About the picture with Badcoop and the other guy: there is no third person.
There are a bunch of wires going to the wall of the glass box, as we've seen before. It's those wires that look like someones hair.

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
I have always been suspicious about Diane, since the first time we've seen her in her home. That's because of the colors of some elements of her dress. The color blue is ALWAYS used by Lynch for some purpose (magical, ethereal, fabricated).

You can watch the link if you don't remember, that's a picture of diane in her home.
Still it is tricky to speculate about this, she can be loyal to cooper, maybe 25 years ago she didn't get he was not the real one (unlikely).
Maybe she was convinced by bad copper in some way. Or maybe she is not the real Diane (i think that is the case).

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
Thanks for this. When the Log Lady talks about "the others" I immediately thought about the Bookhouse Boys. I think this is where we'll see Big Ed and James play their parts in this wonderful saga.soundchaser wrote:I transcribed Margaret's monologue in case anyone wants to reference it:
Hawk…electricity is humming. You hear it in the mountains and rivers. You see it dance among the seas and stars, and glowing around the moon. But in these days, the glow is dying. What will be in the darkness that remains?
The Truman brothers are both “true men”; they are your brothers. And the others – the good ones who have been with you…now the circle is almost complete.
Watch and listen to the dream of time…and space. It all comes out now, flowing like a river. That which is and is not.
Hawk…
Laura is the one.
(For me, the whole episode was worth this moment and the one with Laura at Cole's door. Both incredibly powerful.)

I'm still wondering what happened to it after it killed the young couple.BGate wrote:Still not convinced Evil Coop is actually a billionaire. But it looks like people were right to make the connection between Experiment/Mother/the playing card. "This is what I'm looking for." The box was meant to trap it? Or just capture it's image, for some reason.
