That was strange. One possibility is that she was unclear on what she was seeing at first, and did in fact see the woodsman going away from the car, though we weren't shown that part. The other possibility is that she didn't want to admit that she saw the woodsman sneaking up to the car and didn't say anything, because it could mean she's arguably got a little bit of Hastings' blood on her hands.

Sheriff Frank Truman (to Hawk): "By my reckoning, this is where we're headed. But there's no road - road's gone."

Visually drilling down into google maps leads here: somewhere around the Bull Hill Guest Ranch and Ansaldo Lake.

(I doubt there's any significance to this, but ya never know. I guess they're gonna get a ton of hits on their website this week ... hehe)

That was a fun episode- some parts felt clunky but I won't dwell on that just now, since I spent most of the hour laughing and smiling.

- The badass gun kid and the horn-blasting woman were absolute gold.

- I thought the Dougie plot took a step backward last week, but I was fully back on board with it this week. I love this guy.

- It's always been my thought that Gordon would be around til the end, but I really feared for him for a moment there.

- Great spot on the wallpaper. I was watching FWWM last week and wondered if we'd see it again...

- That kid's throw that led to Miriam's discovery was terrible. Hang your head, kid

- Poor Miriam

- Delighted to see my main man Harry Dean Stanton getting so much screen time. I really hope his connection to the TP wider weirdness comes in to it some more.

- Macklay's reaction to Hastings's death was fantastic... but Diane... after all I've defended her, it's getting harder to to so... I'm still gonna give the benefit of the doubt for now.

- Beautiful and ominous scene from Margaret

I no longer feel sorry for Shelly rewatching the first two seasons, she's prone to create her own shit and she clearly hasn't learned from anything

WOW, what an episode.. easily one of the best of the entire series yet.

i like how it was divided up between Twin Peaks, South Dakota and Las Vegas by not intercutting so much and instead letting each plotline pretty much play out for its duration.

it's brilliant the way they really make a point about how Cooper (a.k.a. "Dougie Jones") affects the life of everyone around him for the better. his presence is a true blessing both for us as viewers and everyone he meets. the last scene with the Mitchum Brothers and the casino winning Lady was beautiful, staged with that sweet new Badalamenti solo piano piece.

the scene with the little kid dressed up exactly as his father in camoflauge and using and shooting his fathers gun... just like daddy!

i thought we were going to see Big Ed in this episode but at least he was mentioned by name which makes me think he will finally show up next week. as some people have said i hope that there will be a Bookhouse Boys storyline or that Big Ed and James in some way will be involved in the search for Jack Rabbit's Palace.

Gordon Cole sure seems to take anything with a smooth sailing mentality LOL - "we sure did Albert"

I thought that boy was trying to tell Bobby something. Are the parents being honest about how the gun went off? Or is there something else abuse-related to add to the story?
i'm almost certain that was a commentary on guns and children. if you notice Bobby looks at the boy who is looking all tough at him, dressed in camoflauge and then he looks at the father of the boy who is dressed in the exact same way and obviously has a thing for guns. to me it is Lynch and Frost saying listen! kids do as you do, not always as you say

Loved this episode. Parts 10 & 11 have a momentum to them that is thrilling.

Also, I don't see what the big deal about Shelley running off to kiss her guy. Her & Bobby are clearly separated, she's trying her best to be there for Becky, and she was only gone for like a minute. She likely has no clue that Red is involved in drug stuff. I don't think that moment makes her a bad person in any way, and am a little perplexed by how she is being judged for it. Watched the show with my dad and he was similarly unimpressed with her actions.

One of the very few things I liked better in the original show was the character of Hawk.

Hawk used to have a subtle, mystical wisdom. Now he keeps giving these very explicit and 'over the top' clues.

Oh, I don't know about that. When he said, "Frank ... you don't ever want to know what that is," that was subtle and mystical! And chilling.

By the way, someone obviously called Becky to let her know Stephen was hooking up with Gersten. Will we ever learn who that person was, or was that just a convenient plot device?

The way Candie has been marvelling at modern technologies makes me think she's a soul from another time. I love her so much, and the Mitchum brothers were great this week. We know they're not totally innocent but they actually deserved the $3mil!!

This interaction between Hawk and Truman:
"It's a type of fire, more like modern day electricity."
"Good?"
"Depends, depends upon the intention, the intention behind the fire."
Reminds me of all of us trying to figure out the intentions of lodge spirits, good or bad  seemed too expository for me again but rewatching the scene I guess it's not super obvious to casual viewers, and it's really just confirming what we've been shown -- electricity and metal have a great deal to do with how the spirits move through and influence our world.

Very disappointed that they cut off Deputy Jesse right when he was about to say the year of his brand new car!

I thought the woman in the car outside the RR was gonna explode, the way she was yelling at Bobby. The zombie kid was unexpected but I love how she just sits there screaming and does nothing to get away from it. She's straight out of a Lynch cartoon.

Damn good episode. And like someone else said above me I really liked the way they edited this one. It didn't jump around back and forth between storylines constantly. It held on and let each storyline progress a little before moving on to the others. Nice pace and flow. I wish they were all like this.

Loved this humor this time. Loved the heartwarming ending. And it's the first time I actually liked Dougie!

This episode really gave me the impression that we are in for some total insanity in the following episodes. :D

In season 2, Hawk gives the most on-the-nose, lengthy exposition about the lodges that we've ever seen.

“Cooper, you may be fearless in this world, but there are other worlds. My people believe that the White Lodge is a place where the spirits who rule man and nature here reside. There is also a legend of a place called the Black Lodge, the shadow self of the White Lodge. The legend says that every spirit must pass through there on the way to perfection. There you will meet your own shadow self. My people call it the dweller on the threshold. But it is said that if you confront the Black Lodge with imperfect courage, it will utterly annihilate your soul.”

sewhite2000 wrote:So, the implication that the woman in the apartment who talks to Becky is Lauren Tewes of Love Boat fame sent me scurrying to her imdb page, which I'm sorry to report doesn't mention Twin Peaks: the Return as one of her acting credits. And it aImost certainly would if this was actually her. Is the person who posted those comparison shots just noting the physical resemblance, or does someone actually have some inside info about this?
It is indeed Tewes. She was on the original cast list, and in the end credits for this episode. They have been updating the IMDB page as each ep airs. It's not updated yet.
