Well, I personnally thought the Vegas part was masterful and the restaurant scene one of the best Twin Peaks scenes ever.tresojos wrote:tbh this episode was great until vegas. candie has probably been to the lodge herself. shelly is still amazing.

Just finished watching.
Initial impressions.
For the first time, I liked some non-TP set scenes more than the TP-set scenes.
I'm loving the Mitchums now - and those final scenes with them and Coop were sublime. We even get to see the old woman from the casino again.
Great to see a cherry pie taking center stage. And dreams!
Does Norma ever leave that booth? Oh, she does once to go behind the counter. I really wish she was being given more to do.
I'm not sure what to think of Shelly. Clearly she and Bobby are long separated.
The whole Becky saga doesn't really interest me. Nice to see Gersten Hayward (Alicia Witt) again, albeit briefly.
I didn't like the scene with Bobby and the woman at the car and the sick kid. Nor the kid who shot up the Double R. These scenes just felt really hollow and weird. I think they're being used to show how messed up the world of Twin Peaks has become.
Lot of Cole/Albert/Diane. And they all can see the woodsmen.
Another Log Lady call, and another map (reminds me of the Owl Cave map).
Who's that deputy, Jessie? Seems to be an innocent.
Not sure about the Candie-is-Laura-Palmer's-Dougie but could be. There's definitely something up with her, just can't tell if it's a quirk or going to be relevant.
Really loving the Mitchums/Coop dynamic. Will they be the ones to bring him to Twin Peaks? With Candie too? That might be very interesting.
Seems the one-armed man and the lodge are manipulating a lot of things - including the Mitchums dream.
And we get confirmation that the Bushnell poster is Don Murray's character when he was younger?
All in all, this felt like a quieter episode. I liked those last few scenes in Vegas a lot more than I liked the TP stuff this time around.

I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

One of the better reviews I've read - a great analysis and points out a lot of symbols and patterns (for this episode and the overall series) I hadn't noticed.
http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/someones-w ... ast-258484
I especially love how the reviewer points out Alicia Witt appeared in an episode of the original series that closed with her playing the piano and returns in an episode that also closes with someone playing a piano. She points out a bridge in Miriam's scene, highlighting a parallel to Ronnette, makes an interesting observation about Bobby studying the shooter kid and his father and how it parallels the Briggs' own situation - patterns learned being repeated in families, and makes some great points about the road of the return and the journey this series is on. Really worth a read!

Hawk: The information that Major Briggs gave got me thinking. You'll understand a lot more when I explain my map. [Hawk unrolls map]. This map is very old - but it is always current. It's - it's a living thing. [Hawk points to the right peak in image 0898]. This is where Major Briggs' station was. This is Blue Pine Mountain - a very revered, sacred site. [side note: this means the left peak is White Tail Mountain]. I think that the information that the Major gave us is going to take us here."
Truman: "This looks like a campfire. What is this?" [Truman points to the fire in image 0899].
Hawk: "It's not a campfire - it's a fire symbol.
Truman: "What's that mean?"
Hawk: "It's a - a type of fire - more like modern-day electricity."
Truman: "Good?"
Hawk: "Depends. Depends upon the intention - the intention behind the fire. The Major also gave us a date. Day after tomorrow. If you read these stars [Hawk points to the stars above the peaks in image 0898], you find that same date. It refers you to here." [Hawk points to the black corn in image 0900].
Truman: "What is this?"
Hawk: "It's corn - it's fertility - but it's black - diseased or unnatural. Death. If you put these two symbols together, you get this." [Hawk points to the black fire in image 0901].
Truman: "Black fire."
Hawk: "Correct."
Truman: "We saw this on that little slip of paper we took out of Major Briggs' tube. What is this?" [Truman points to the black symbol with wings between the two peaks in image 0898].
Hawk: "Frank - you don't ever want to know about that."
Truman: "Really?"
Hawk: "Really."
and here's the official showtime photo showing the entire map.

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)
I definitely got the impression that Albert was trying to talk in code about the hot tin roof, and that Gorden identified he was talking about Ruth and blurted it out, thereby alerting Diane. Whether he did that accidentally, or to draw out Diane a bit more I don't know - but I increasingly get the feeling he is smarter than he seems. Albert clearly spots her peering at the picture and trying to memorise the code. I wonder whether they've doctored the image.Jasper wrote:The weird comments between Albert and Gordon about the cat and the cream made me think that perhaps they were purposefully showing some false info for Diane to see and report. After their conversation in Gordon's hotel room in Part 10 regarding Diane's covert communications, they wouldn't have carelessly put the evidence in front of her like that. Maybe Albert had some of the numbers doctored, or maybe those really are the correct coordinates. Either way, we can be sure that they'll be monitoring Diane's communications in order to see what she does with what she's seen.TwinsPeak wrote:Albert didnt seem to hide the code from Diane.
Certainly, she doesn't seem particularly bothered about events this episode, which makes me think she knows a lot more than she's revealed so far. Whether that means she's working with Mr C I'm still not convinced, but she didn't freak out like the poor detective did, and was pretty much facing the action. Her excuses for not seeing anything are terrible, but are something that make me think that - if she's working with someone against the FBI, she's not doing the best job of things (aside from routinely getting drunk).

How did DougieCoop buy pie when he doesn't even have a wallet? (Unless maybe he just handed over his whole wallet) And how could he even grasp the concept of buying a pie when he apparently doesn't even understand how to walk from one room to another unless someone is leading him with the promise of coffee? This scene was not shown only partially because of building up the suspense of what was in the box. It was a scene that had to be skipped over, because it would have required showing DougieCoop handling a transaction that appear to be beyond his capabilities.

I read it and commented on it indirectly by talking about the movie Dunkirk in a previous post. I don't agree with the idea that the timelines are occurring separately, but from the many posts I've read on here, I think most users of this forum do think that, or they're the most vocal about expressing themselves anyway.krishnanspace wrote:Guys please read this and tell. Oh, okay, so Bushnell bought the pie. Got it. I didn't think about that, for some reason.

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)
So just a theory I'll throw out there... Does anyone else believe that in FWWM Chet Desmond may have been pulled into through one of those portals after finding the ring like Gordon almost was? Heck, I wouldn't even rule out the possibility that one of these portals existed at "Judy's in Seattle" and been how Jeffries ended up at the meeting above the convenience store.
Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)
Dougie-Coop was with Bushnell Mullins, and Mullins followed after him to the shop. All he had to do was go straight for a pie, and Mullins would have figured out the rest, and would have thought that Dougie had been very thoughtful, coming up with this idea to present a friendly gift to the brothers Mitchum. Of course Mullins would have paid for the pie as well. It could have been a fun scene, but the pie was supposed to be a surprise to the audience, so it wouldn't have made sense to show Coop and Mullins in the shop.sewhite2000 wrote:How did DougieCoop buy pie when he doesn't even have a wallet? EDIT: I see that I was a little late with this response. In any case, even if Dougie-Coop had been alone, given his charmed existence he probably would have ended up with the pie anyway.
