Just watched this again on Halloween - I love this movie.

The way DL figures out a way to bring it all together is something that just blows my mind. The Betty/Diane/Winkies scenes always leave me wonderous - when Betty sees Diane she looks a lot like the actual Diane when she sees Betty who looks like... and how the name reflects itself between the dream and reality...

And how powerful those last 30 minutes are - the depression, loss, anxiety. How you now loathe all the people you were interested in during the dream.

For basically being a series of vignettes tied together with narrative thread, what a magical sewing job it is. Much the same way he worked the last episode of TP.
