How do i do this? I downloaded some photos from my camera to iPhoto on my mac but i'm clueless from there!
The following instructions are on how to upload a photo and make it your avatar on here. If you're using mac, I apologize but I'm a bit unfamiliar w/ that. Enclosed are Windows instructions for those who would benefit from it. Jer, I'm sure you've got some sort of paintbrush or like-software on your computer. With the image stylings and attributes, I'm sure you can tinker with it to update your avatar, assuming that's what you want to do. If you're trying to use the "Img" w/in the posts, I'm with you on that one... 1st day on here and trying to figure that out. The Double-R wasn't built in a day, though.
With a little messing around with Paintbrush...
(In Windows XP, it's just Paint, or go to run, and type mspaint.exe)
(In Windows Vista, type mspaint.exe in your command bar.)
1.) Open your desired image.
2.) Go to Image, Image Attributes.
3.) ***Do NOT adjust the height and width via pixels!!!***
This will CROP the picture. You don't want that.
4.)
Write down the dimensions of your picture. Pixels H, Pixels W.
I shot for 79 pixels on each. (This is easier than it sounds.)
5.)
Instead, (this is the toggle... trial & error part!) go to Image,
Stretch & Skew.
6.) Now, play around with DECREASING the percentages. As it stands,
obviously, your image is at 100%. Well, if the pixels (wide) were
100, off the top of my head, I'd suggest decreasing stretching / shrinking it) to 80%. Now, let's look at the height. If you're uploading Venus DeMilo from the hallway in the Black Lodge, that would be approximately 200 pixels long, a tougher pic to upload! I'd consider cropping this one. However, you could take the 200 pixels and roughly estimate you need to half-that amount! I'd adjust it to 80% as well.
7.) Click "APPLY." NOTE:
***You can always go to Edit, Undo as many times as you want to
back up as many times as you want, if you're click-happy like me.
* Don't damage your existing picture! *
8.) Make sure you "Save As" and add "Avatar" to the end of your pic
name, so you don't damage/overwrite your existing image. Senor
Droolcup's milk was getting very, very cold by the time I was
finished, but it worked. Remedial solution, but it gets the job done.
...hopefully this helps, Jerry! Email me or send private messages with questions (anyone). Hopefully the milk's getting warmer now!
