We don't know what Kyle knew at that point, whether there have been script changes, deleted scenes, etc.
Fair enough, but given how careful and frustratingly obtuse the actor was when wording anything in regards to the new show (the same goes for everybody else on the production side), it just seems EXTREMELY odd he'd be so bold to make such a public claim about such massively important plot point without having any hard knowledge of the matter. Ah well, who the hell knows.
Yeah, I wish I could say for sure what Kyle knew or didn't know. And for the record, I am also disappointed Annie wasn't really addressed in the show. I have very mixed feelings at this point. I think the last two hours were brilliant, but they did not give me the emotional homecoming and closure a big part of me was hoping for.
Might I also remind you (and anyone else caring enough as to be reading this forum) that the Annie thing was thoroughly - what retrospectively definitely looks like - BOTCHED by Frost's Secret History book as well. I guess now's finally a safe time to say those altered facts in regards to the character's background that called into question her very existence (and so much more of what was established as pre-S 3 canon) and many of us were hoping (against hope?) would get some kind of meaningful payoff in the new series were, in the cold light of day, nothing more than big fat RETCONS, born out of disinterest, irresponsibility, carelessness, laziness, sloppiness or God only knows what else.
For the record, I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone who loved the book and/or The Return (I agree with mtwentz there truly would be no point in bickering over it now, if there ever was), I'm just expressing my own monumental disappointment things have turned out the way that they did.
