That's why I'm finding it hard in evaluating what we got -- we don't know what they want to do, if they have any concrete inclination to do more and left all this open for that, or if it was intentionally left so totally obscure to prove an absurd point.Mr. Reindeer wrote:Would have probably leaned toward "no" before Sunday night -- I thought it was extremely unlikely that L/F would have the energy/inclination to do this again and was hoping for a closed ending.
After having seen Part 18, my answer is a resounding "yes." I'm happy with what we got as an ending if that's what L/F want. But if they have more to say, I want to hear it.

Very good point.richsmith wrote:. I also think the mythology has been taken as far as it can/should be taken. It worked perfectly to see a greater evil even than BOB unfurled. But what's next? A greater evil than a greater evil?
Even Lynch, one of the greatest artists of all time in my opinion, could go overboard here. Still, I want more.

2 million subscriptions is nothing
And an average of 300,000 viewers is dismal by network standards. They are just trying to put on a good face for this obvious failure .

That says it all.

And, remember, Showtime's parent company CBS directly stated that an unexpected 11% increase in their earnings was a direct result of the Peaks impact on their streaming and subscription platforms. Plus the huge amount of social media chatter and its role in invigorating the Showtime brand. It's unquestionably been at least a mild success for them.
Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)
No, it's a sad dead thing. TP:TR showed that it's physically impossible to make more Twin Peaks, just pale idiotic imitations of it out of little golden balls.

I had Showtime for 4 months. No new movies, same old tripe. The other original shows are crap.
I'm done. Cancelled today. RIP TP:TR.

Doesn't matter, I won't watch it either way. If the fans want it, cool, but count me out.

My heart says, "of course," but my mind is torn between its longing for answers and its (newfound?) realization that it may not like the answers it's given.
For me, as of right now, Twin Peaks is dead (but yet it lives). Ask me again after I have read Frost's next book.

In short: Yes
But..... While I would love more Twin Peaks material, and I wouldn't kick a Season 4 out of bed for eating crackers, I am thoroughly on board with Lynch's offering of mysteries, and I'd be ok with this as the end.

I want to see what happens after the scream.
Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)
First two episodes of season 4 are about Richard and Carrie looking for a flashlight in complete darkness (black screen). Only noises and voices. Carrie screams very loud when her pinkie slams on a table.crash_and_burn wrote:I want to see what happens after the scream.

That says it all.
As far as the actual possibility of S4, it seems far better than if you had asked me a week ago, due to the unforeseen number of explorable story threads and apparently financial performance.
