If there's a substantial amount, it could even be put to good use in a season 4 / miniseries / film.
I don't think (no inside info, just from what I've heard Sutherland say) there was anything substantial that was in the script and didn't get filmed, and ultimately into the show.
I voted yes, but I am not really sure I want another season - I might be more interested in a movie or two.
Here's the thing, and it might not be a popular opinion: I think Dale Cooper's story has been told. He is going to keep trying to Save the Girl; he is going to keep failing. His tragic flaw is his need to be the hero; and in this case he can't. He was given the information he needed to know, in Lodgespace and in our world (FFS, there was a goddamn dead body - and a white horse - in Carrie's living room); and yet he still tried to put everything "right."
It cannot be put right. A child was raped and murdered by her father. Nothing will ever be right about that.
He might have been able to help Audrey - sure sounds like the Arm was pointing him in that direction. He could have tried, like Jefferies, Briggs, and Cole, to mitigate the pernicious influence of Judy. Instead, for him, Laura was the One.
But NOT the "one" in the sense of the REAL Laura. The Laura whose self-sacrificial defeat of BOB was far more meaningful than Freddy god-punching him to bits. Coop never knew Laura, she's just an image to him. I think I get the Red Room now; and it
is a dream. But it's a shared dream, it is a space that is "real" for the purposes of our story; but it's not in the woods, on the mountain, it is a place that exists within each of us, within each of the characters in
Twin Peaks.
Laura is dead. Yet she lives within that dream. She feels like she knows Laura, she is the MFAP/Arm's "cousin" - she is an image of Laura; just as the Cooper in
Laura's angel scene was an image of the Good Dale. A reflection.
In chasing
that, Coop failed. He is trying to save the damsel in distress; when he should be honoring a fallen hero. Laura's victory resulted in her death; and to take that death away from her is to return her to a cycle of abuse. In intercepting Laura on her was to meet Leo, Jacques, and Ronnette; Coop robbed her of her victory.
And he will continue to do so; and he will continue to be tossed back on that Infinite Eight - sadly, his story has been told.
But.
I think there are plenty of stories in Twin Peaks. Surely the ones, the threads left hanging. But I could even see someone like Tammy breaking the cycle of Judy. Albert is sadly gone; and as much as I love Gordon Cole, I'm not sure I need to see another few hours of Lynch talking about his dick.
If Frost & Lynch have more stories to tell, I would love to hear them.
