The Blu-ray shipped today in France (despite Amazon saying they will not ship for 3 weeks). It is confirmed to be Region free (Region ABC).

I wish that Dune original cut,extended cut and Lynch's cut issued on a Blu-Ray set like Blade Runner's ones! :oops:

But David only claims his cut, if even that. I think it's a shame that he had such a horrible experience making the movie, because I love it. And I'm a Frank Herbert lover!

That link doesn't look right. I have the regular "special edition" of DUNE with both the Lynch version and the Smithee version and some extras. I thought the Blu-ray was supposed to have more.

No,the Blu-Ray has only a few extras.From what i've heard,the image surpasses all the previous releases of the film (although it's not fabulous).

Apparently the reviews are not good for this German release. They say the quality of the Blu-Ray image is pretty bad. Transferred from a VHS copy, etc...

Cool--where did you hear that rumor? The official Dune board doesn't follow such things. Do you know the actual anniversary date?

I don't. It was on one of those cinephile Blu-Ray sites. Sorry I never remember the sites...for instance where the Steve Lukather info comes from, have no idea. I just gather it all like a sieve and then spill it out, little by little.
