Red Stitches ! ?
I found the below on an old alt-TP webpage. I have absolutely no recollection of anything to do with red stitches! Does anyone know what this is about?
What are the "stitches with the red thread"?
In the "European" version of the pilot episode (see question
E10), during Cooper's call from the One-Armed Man, he
mentions that he knows about Teresa Banks, knows the man who
did her, and knows about "the stitches with the red thread."
This is never mentioned again in the series or in "Fire Walk
With Me". Some have suggested a connection to the threads
of Lil's dress in the airport "coded message" scene of "Fire
Walk With Me" (see question F12), but this seems unlikely
since the treads in the dress are not red.
Since this scene was written way before "Fire Walk With Me",
it is likely that it was only meant to be some detail of the
Teresa Banks murder that would "prove" to Cooper that the
caller was familiar with it, and thus his "tip" was
credible.
When the sequence of scenes in the "European" pilot were
incorporated into Cooper's dream sequence in episode 2, the
call with the One-Armed Man was left out, so it was probably
deemed unnecessary to include anything about stitches into
"Fire Walk With Me".

The "european ending" he's talking about is the alternative ending that was tacked on at the end of the pilot, when Warner Bros decided they wanted to release it as a straight-to-video film in Europe. The film consist of the entire pilot episode and an additional 15-20 minutes of scenes that was shot during the making of the pilot.
During one of these scenes, the one-armed man calls Cooper on the phone and tells him that he knows about the stitches with the read thread and that the killer is at the hospital.
Like it says in the post you've quoted, this is never heard of again. I've read the post before and I too see the link between this scene and the Lil-scene in FWWM. I guess the one-armed man wanted to tell Cooper that he knows about the Theresa Banks murder case and that he is to be trusted.

Re: Red Stitches ! ?
Red threads, strings, cords, ribbons, etc figure largely into the aesthetic of Peaks (and Wild at Heart), however. "The thread will be torn, Mr. Palmer! The thread will be torn!" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_string_of_fate

Re: Red Stitches ! ?
There is a scene in WaH where a construction worker walks behind Sailor and Lula carrying a long red pipe that spans the entire screen. There is a red hose in the background when Cooper investigates the site where the Chalfont trailer had been in FWWM...

Discovered on a recent "Lil" + "stitches" google search:
Notice the color of his collar! And his name is STITCH. And the other character's name - LIL-o (i.e. "my mother's cousin's girl"). Plus it's set in Jacoby's own Hawaii.
And on the poster, there's a monkey! (Well, a babboon.) And Pinocchio, the little boy found in Jacques' stomach! And a dwarf! (Named DOPE-y, recall that the tailored dress stands for drugs).
It's all coming together now...

It's a reference to a French film or filmmaker I seem to remember? Perhaps Tati?
