Imagine if "Inland Empire" (for example) had been filled with the characters from "TP", but was exactly the same otherwise. Would it be easier to understand? Would being familiar with the characters at least give some comfortable footing in an otherwise surreal new world?

Hoping these are the likely reasons for their absenses

Fenn - Had a excuse apparently

Richard, Russ and Al - Are all kind of recluses in their own way and in Russ's case has some health issues so it's possible he didn't want to go to a public event.

Duchovny, JJL, Davies, Wise, Sizemore, Foster, Cera, Roth, Watts, Knepper - All had scheduling conflicts as they are likely filming other things in different parts of the world

Cruise, possibly Badalemnti? - Not being there scares me a bit as I expected both to be there and will be devastated if the latter isn't a big part of the new show.

The others I'm not super familiar with so I can't comment on there likely reasons.

This is probably the best reaction I've seen to the premiere. It's almost like a review in and of itself!

I tend to think the new Peaks is going to be more like Lost Highway or Mullholland Drive -- it won't be linear but there will be enough familiar (i.e., external) narrative aspects for people to follow along. The thing about Inland Empire is that it's a journey into a fragmented, multi-dimensional identity, and this allows Lynch to follow various threads of identity. Twin Peaks, on the other hand, can have/probably will have more concrete, external narrative threads for the viewer to follow.

Yep. Bed early Sunday night, up 1.30am. Watch the first two. Snooze then wake. Up Watch eps 3&4!! Taken Monday off work to make it happen..
Then hit Dugpa to find out what we all think/thought.
