just find it hilarious that fans are demanding better production value............of a Lynch product.

Richard and Linda
Richard Milhous Nixon, birthplace: Yorba Linda, California
I'm probably way off here, but given the Nixon stuff from Secret History, who knows.
Maybe a page from Laura's diary ended up in the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda?

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
There is almost certainly what appears to be a camera captured in the reflection of the left mirror. I thought that whether it was intentional or not, it was left in intentionally as a nod to the way Bob was initially conceived.Ideanuk wrote:First time poster, long time lurker.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but in the scene with Sarah Palmer I'm almost certain that in the mirror on the left someone can be seen standing just out of shot. You can see their hand. I don't think this is an error. Too much of a coincidence given that Frank Silva was caught in the mirror in the Pilot of the original series.
As I've said, maybe this has already been discussed, in which case I'd love to hear your thoughts ...
Loving the new Season.

Jacoby is spray painting the shovels gold? Interestingly enough (perhaps) the shovel(s) used to break ground on the Great Northern were gold.

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
Hello everybody! It's been a while since I last posted here, but I wanted to write a couple of things about the new Peaks... So here I am!
First of all I absolutely LOVED it! The very creepy moments, the sounds, the acting (good and bad), that damn box, that thing in the cell, the Tree from Another Place, Otis' place, Hawk, Lucy, Margaret, even James! I think Kyle is doing a magnificent job, I love him even more as an actor here than in the old TP... Over all, I'm baffled, confused, mesmerized, but enjoying each and every moment of it... I couldn't believe some time ago that in my many rewatches some day I could watch Laura and Coop in FWWM and THEN the MISSING PIECES, and I can't believe now we have a Season 3 in our hands... In the old Gazette I used to say I didn't want a 3rd season, that I preferred Lynch working in a brand new series for example, nothing to do with Peaks...but since this Project appeared I've been more and more enthusiastic about it, disagreeing completely with the old Gordon... I'm along for the ride completely, eager to see where David and Mark take us; I'm sorry so many of you disliked it, but let's wait...this is only the beginning... Maybe in the future you'll love it and I'll hate it, who knows... Cheers everyone!

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
It's one thing to dislike the show, it's different to dislike people liking it. And vice versa.
It's weird to use viewers as a measurement of whether Lynch and Frost have struck gold again. With Lynch behind the wheels 60% I don't think that's the thing you should use to decide whether it's good or not. There's a different between cult and commercial megasucces.
It's so highly subjective. I find it logic that people are divided on this one. However, stating it has nothing to do with the past two series does seem a little premature, with so many hours left.

It's okay for us to disagree. That being said:
Chester Desmond wrote:For those of you enjoying The Return so far, that's great I am happy for you, this isn't meant for you and isn't an insult to daddy Lynch.
David Lynch isn't my anything. This is incredibly patronizing and condescending. Stop doing it.Chester Desmond wrote:David Lynch is my "daddy" too, but sometimes daddy makes a mistake and this is one.

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
A horror show for me is when l'm clearly watching fiction on the TV, but l'm feeling fearful to be in my own room. Although l didn't really like the pace of the new series, and the song at the end induces me to vomit (Dave ... l clearly said no modern pop electro rubbish!) ... the Tree scared me.
I can totally understand if MJA flew off the handle when he was given the news that he would be replaced with a tree. I totally believe the seedling on the Juliee Cruise album was that Tree (as somebody has suggested).
The Forbidden Tree in Eden and the Serpent were associated. The Pharaoh's magicians produced staffs which turned into serpents. The Tree in Series 3 hisses sibilantly. I wonder what the head / fruit tastes like?
Edit: just read the preceding comments. Agree - this isn't primarily a commercial venture, this is a cult movie. Lynch and Frost primarily have something to tell us, ratings and profits come second.

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
Anything over a million viewers is solid these days especially on a pay channel with live sports going on. I understand they gave it away for free, but they are banking on adding 10% of the audience of that 405,000 to their new customer total. If they add 40K new viewers at $15 a pop a month for the rest of the summer, it will be $18 million dollars in Showtimes' pocket. The only reason, I still have cable is due to Showtime and HBO being free til the end of Summer. After that, its cut the cord time and going full on Sling TV where I can drop and add channels. There is also a lot of watch parties, so you knows how many people actually watched the premiere. I will say if they can get 500,000 to watch parts 3 and 4 On Demand then its a hit.

Jake Wardle is credited as 'Freddie Sykes' so he's probably just a young friend for James.Rami Airola wrote:I've watched the scene with James now several times. It's great!
James Marshall acts really well there. It was pretty much the first time these two episodes gave real dramatic connection to the people. It feels REALLY grounded there.
I wonder if the other guy is James' kid.
Maybe he is James' and Donna's son.
I wonder if the motorcycle accident involved Donna. I wonder if she died in that accident.

I'm pretty sure that idea only came about after MJA abruptly walked away.StrangerDanger wrote:Totally understand if MJA flew off the handle when he was given the news that he would be replaced with a tree.

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
Can you all stop hounding dissenting voices? They might have important points to make. Nobody was saying such personal things about Lynch and Frost, so please leave the guy alone (l've experienced the same before, here). The forum is about a fictional work, perspective please.

Yes l had thought that, hence "if MJA ...." But it seems strange that the seedling was there on Juliee Cruise's album. I wonder who came up with the artwork.N.
