Post by dugpa »

In the "so bad it's good" genre, I wanted to share these gems that I came across on the internet.

That's a lovely turn of phrase.

Absolutely love Wally! Hope we see a lot more of him in S3.

The dialogue was pure Frost to me -- reminded me of the classic Albert/Truman speech and the over dialogued Window Earle scenes on S2.

Plus I think it gets even funnier the more you watch it.

I really don't get why people hate that scene.
This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee.

A lot of people really dislike Michael Cera. That'll be why.

I think the dude is a great comedic actor and he showed it in this scene. I can't think about it without cracking up.

Honestly, I don't like him much, but that scene was pretty funny. One of the most "Twin Peaks" moments, imho.

I'm with you on not liking him much, but I love the Wally character. Whether we see him again doesn't really matter to me, because that scene alone was legendary enough for there to be no actual need to see more... I mean.. it can't really get better than that can it?

I love how he has his own name embroidered on his jacket.

Nothing wrong with him or the scene. It was just one of those ''Uhh..... oookaaaay.....'' scenes.

Brando had "Johnny" embroidered on his leather jacket in the same style. Johnny is one thing, "Wally" is possible the most nonthreatening name in the universe.

As someone who loved Peaks for its wink to Preminger's Laura, Sunset Boulevard, Vertigo, etc, etc, etc!! - this was right in my wheel house.
God, I love this music. Isn't it too dreamy?

"Your dharma...????????"

Love this scene. Really curious to see if we'll ever see more of him, but it was exactly the kind of comedy I needed. Up there with "It's not the bunny."

Enjoyed the scene the first time but didn't think much of it. Thought about it in the car while driving alone, I started laughing like a maniac. Then I watched it again yesterdat... and I loved it.

Another Wally fan here!! Hopefully this will be a recurring character. I was instantly hooked when the scene started, I think there is something so warm and dreamy about the performance here and that's why I like it. Wally has that pure Twin Peaks 60s vibe going on, lovely character indeed!

The Wally scene is brilliant. At first it made me cringe, but as it kept going and going and going, I eventually was beside myself with laughter.

There are so many funny things about it and Michael Cera is perfect casting because he's so UNLIKE Marlon Brando.

I doubt we'll see him again. He's got to get back on the road!

I essentially view the Wally scene as a complete meta moment to politely say "fuck you" to season two. It's a parody of late season 2 James, the Dick/Andy/Lucy subplot, the absurd and out of place guest cast. Even Truman's reaction is how I imagine DKL reacting to most of season two. It's parody but with intent and function.
