Just watching S2E1. When the girl reads the piece of poetry she says that Laura is the glow of life in her dreams.
And Laura is indeed glowing!

Honestly..it reminded me of Fire Walk With Me....Hap`s diner

Are you talking about that little girl that was murdered X2

I`d like to speak to Sheriff Truman X2

It could make a difference X2

kinda weird :?: :?:
I personally got no surreal feeling from it at all. I believe it was just there to 1. re-establish Lucy in her usual position and the fact that she hasn't changed very much and 2. introduce the concept to the viewers that there are now two Sheriff Truman.

Finally had the chance to watch it yesterday. The first impression that I had was good but I'm still too baffled to write more about it. I'm already looking forward to watch both parts again on the weekend. Unfortunately I'll also have to wait until next week to view parts 3 & 4.

Parts 3 and 4 will wrangle some of the concepts together in my opinion.
I strongly suggest that you watch them one right after the other.

What is in the trunk of Hastings Volvo? Blinking flash light seems to indicate a Bob victim.

Parts 3 & 4 feel more like Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks Series 1 and 2, to me.

Part 1 & 2 feels more like Eraserhead and such like, to me.

This has been driving me crazy ever since I rewatched FWWM last week.

1. Why would MIKE demand BOB return his Garmonbozia? MIKE is supposed to be good now that he's seen the face of God, what's he doing asking for fear and suffering? Is it just the principle of the matter, the fact that BOB stole anything from him at all?

2. I thought MIKE wanted to kill BOB, but he doesn't even try.

3. MIKE is the magician and BOB is his familiar, thus BOB and The Man From Another Place would seem to be of a different order of being than MIKE. So MIKE shouldn't need Garmonbozia for sustenance, least of all when he's inhabiting a human body.
I mostly lurk here, but I'm a longtime fan of the show. When I first watched, I too took Mike at his word that he had changed and saw the face of God, renouncing his ways. However, after watching Fire Walk With Me and subsequently re-watching the show about a dozen times it is 100% clear to me that Mike is LYING when he says this.

From reading this thread it doesn't seem to be a common consensus, but I've always felt it is quite clear that The Man From Another Place is Mike's true form: referring to himself as The Arm, pal-ing around with Bob in Jeffries telling of the meeting above the Convenience Store, the commection that both he and Gerard have with the Ring, and most explicitly when he speaks conjointly with Gerard when he demands Garmonbozia

Remember Mike actually tells Cooper that Bob is his familiar- that is to say his servant. He uses the ring to claim Laura's garmonbozia to keep Bob from possesing her, because Bob was being selfish. Anytime Mike / The Man from Abother Place appears to be helpful he is either lying to achieve is own ends or is helping in a self-serving way. I always took it that Mike wanted Bob to stop toying with Laura so he could posess Cooper.

Hi there
- Why wasn't MIKE in the convenience store meeting then?
- Familiar could just mean an associate in the act of killing people. A partner in crime, an enforcer, where the business is bewitching and killing? But then, BOB is said to be scared of MIKE, so maybe BOB truly is a mere servant of MIKE ...
- I'm totally convinced that MIKE saw God (how did it happen?) because MIKE's not really done anything to make me think he's a fraud. In Garmonbozia, he's not so much after the wages of sin, than the just payback for that sin, which is then laundered via his body and released back into the cosmos?

I'll say this. The MIKE "Face of God" monologue was really awesome stuff and one of my favorite scenes. MIKE/Strobel convinced me. If he's lying, he's doing a great job.

Ever get the feeling parts of TP were like winks/ inner jokes from the creators to the audience, whether naming characters after historical figures or from other shows' (i.e."Philip Gerard" from The Fugitive; or Harry S. Truman) -- or for another example of a "wink," the soap opera tv show Invitation to Love featured even as soapish plots were being carried out on TP?

I think the "which one?" [Which Sheriff Truman?] may be a wink/ nod to the fact Ontkean isn't around for this season. "Gone fishing" seems to me an obvious expression for someone who's checked out from being involved in the whole thing. Even though it's been noted Robert Forster is supposed to be cast as the Sheriff this season - - as readers of TSHOTP will recall, Harry had an older brother (Frank?) who had been sheriff of Twin Peaks at an earlier time. The book doesn't indicate what became of Frank but I'll bet he's one of the "Sheriff Trumans" that longtime residents of a small town like TWin Peaks have come to refer to either brother who both held the same office.

I get it and that all makes sense and you're probably right. But I did get a weird vibe from how the insurance man couldn't take a hint. I don't know maybe it will have some deeper meaning for Harry Truman. *Wishful thinking*
The milk will get cool on you pretty soon.

Do we think Betty Briggs is the secretary to Principal Hastings Betty? Guarding info?

Dunno.. I'm expecting Betty Briggs to still live in Twin Peaks and play some concluding role there. An affair with a hot young assistant also seems more likely than with a woman older than his wife. I'd say slim chance. But who knows, this is Twin Peaks after all.

We're only assuming Hastings was having an affair with the Betty person, though. Did Phyllis mention the persons name was Betty? Only because the name Betty was said in passing during the interrogation. But when Cooper talks to Darya, he says Hastings' secretary... Perhaps narratively for us not to piece the connection together since Makor Briggs is mentioned in the same scene.

I've learned to be a little skeptical when it comes to this show and introducing characters with repeat names and looking for connections... I think there are like four Mikes at this point. I do like the idea of Betty Briggs having a bigger role, though.
