Becky's creepy guy is her husband Stephen. That explains her last name.

I thought it was a great episode, especially when we consider it's doing its own special work for a larger 18 part whole.

I felt like this one was the most similar to the original show so far.

So... Bob dismembered Garland Briggs and uses his severed hand/fingers to place prints on his crime scenes?

Loved the Dougie/Coop office scenes. I don't really know what the long game is with him being Droolcoop, but i'm certainly warming up to it. The final scene of him touching the statue seemed very melancholy and less silly, which I liked.

Loved seeing the Double R shot on location, it gives it such a different feel than what we saw in the original series. Loved seeing Ernie Hudson, Belushi, and Knepper. I already love where their characters are going. Looks like I was right in my estimation that Belushi is playing some sort of Mr. Eddy boss-type.

I'm still stunned that Chrysta Bell can't even act normally doing a scene where she's literally just staring at a screen but oh well! Also not a big fan of the overacting explosion that is Caleb Landry Jones, who I didn't like in Get Out either, that dude just cannot do anything without trying to make it a "bold choice"

First thoughts:

Lots of wheels in motion now! I hope when the key gets back to the Great Northern, the person working the front desk simply replaces it, later to be discovered by Audrey. That would be a great scene.

So glad the 1-1-9 kid didn't go boom. I was squirming in my seat over that one.

Garland's prints keep popping up?!

Looks like the hit on Dougie/Coop is somehow related to the Philip Jefferies plot (I previously assumed they were sent to kill Dougie due to maybe gambling debts?)

And in true Twin Peaks fashion, we'll have to wait at least another week to find out what woman Cole wants to bring in to see COOP.

A lot of new questions this week and not a lot of answers, just how I like it. It really is starting to feel like one large movie that I am being forced to stop watching every hour.

Enough rambling from me for now, I need to go shovel myself out of the shit!

Love that it feels like the world has gone wrong inside and outside of Twin Peaks and the hero is just struggling to return to set things right.

Best one yet! Better balance of mystery, comedy, drama, and the surreal. There are so many puzzle pieces, just when some start to come together and take shape, a new piece appears, distorting everything. I love it! Roadhouse scene was aces!

The three ladies in pink in the casino and Jacoby! Brought me right back
Anyone else get a MD vibe from the 3 ladies?

Just finished watching Episode 5.

Initial impressions.

I think this is the weakest of the episodes to date.

The second half was better than the first half, maybe because there were a few more TP-set scenes.

I reiterate that I think it's a mistake to be airing this as a weekly TV series. It should have all been uploaded at once - or at the very least they should air 2 episodes a week.

The pace continues to be glacial - but that's not the only problem. The whole narrative structure just doesn't work as a weekly TV series, imo.

I was disappointed there was no follow-up to Episode 4's sort of cliffhanger - "I know where she drinks." The end of that episode seemed to promise things were beginning to pick up, both in terms of narrative and pace, but this episode feels like a step back.

The Dougie stuff has become tiresome. Kyle is still good - and I want to like these scenes - but enough already.

There was no pay off with the "Case Files." I was hoping he might see the word "Coop" or "Cooper" in the files and connect it with "Agent" in his mind.

A lot of the scenes and new characters are boring and tiresome. I kept thinking, who are all these people? Why am I watching this? I don't care about them.

It still feels a bit like "MD" and a lot like "The David Lynch TV Show".

I didn't mind the lack of music in the TP scenes as much as you all seemed to in the first few episodes - but I did this time around.

Some of the TP scenes feel disconnected and pointless, especially the Mike Nelson one.

And some of them are as bad as - or worse than - the weakest elements of Season 2, such as the new Sheriff Truman's wife and that scene about pipes. It was very poor.

I enjoyed seeing the Double R again - finally! Great to see Norma and Shelly again, but didn't think the scene gave them much to do.

Is Shelly's daughter poised to become the new Laura Palmer?

Speaking of Laura, Sheryl is credited as her in this episode but I didn't see her. Did I miss something?

I liked the Jacoby scene - and great to see Jerry and Nadine watching him. But I wanted to like this scene more than I did. Almost had an "Invitation to Love" vibe about it. Should have played better than it did.

I did like the Bad Coop and the mirror scene - and the little hint of Bob. But the final scene with the phone call wasn't as thrilling.

The Briggs stuff is vaguely interesting.

Was that Joan Cusack in the pentagon scene? Or did the actress just look like her? Couldn't see her name in the credits!

I feel they should have put more effort into developing stories in TP, rather than these disconnected random snippets of characters, and this dragged out Dougie plotline.

I thought it was ending at the Bang Bang Bar when that scene first played. That surprised me. Who is the new bad guy? Who are these girls?

For the first time the closing credits weren't in the bar. I liked them playing over Dougie. But enough with this storyline now. Let him figure out who he is now. Or at least make big huge strides forward. This narrative is starting to feel played out - and overplayed.

Overall, I thought this episode was weak. I didn't really enjoy it. I thought I was warming to the show after 3 & 4, but this feels like a step back. I think I will find it difficult to follow this on a weekly basis, unless the narrative picks up majorly soon. More forward momentum on Coop's Odyssey back to town - and more TP stuff with music please!

I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

Shelly mentioned in the 2nd episode something about her daughter Becky dating this bad guy Steven.

And Becky's last name in this episode is the same as that Steven guy's, so maybe it's her married name.

The creep in the Roadhouse was a Horne?

Looks like we've met our new Leo -- only he seems like Leo + Frank Booth.

Frank's wife is a great and sad character. Is there something evil in TP affecting her?

Oh, and seeing Cooper silently cry when looking at a melancholy Sonny Jim got me feeling rather choked up. Any ideas on what he was remembering/thinking in that moment?
