Top 5 directors

Post by claaa7 »

It's always interesting, considering how broad Lynch's ouvere is, what his fans consider the greatest directors of all time.

Here's my list.

1. Stanley Kubrick
2. David Lynch
3. Andrei Tarkovsky
4. Park Chan Wook
5. Terrence Malick

honorable mention:
* Francis Ford Coppola (had he kept churning out movies like in the '70s he would have a high placing here). sue to he hasn't really delivered after those four aside from "Dracula" i'm not ure he would be in my top 109
* Scorsese (seen it all and LOVE pretty much everything, "Silence" in the theater was a PROFOUND experience)
' Kurosawa (what an incredible director)
* David Crobebverg (i'd porbably place him at #6, i'm in love with like 85% movies and he keeps getting better.. "Eastern Prmises", "Cosmpolis", "Maps to the Stars"; all marvellos)
* Kieslowski (Trikaloren with especially Red but also Veronicas Doublelife, parts of Decaluge, etc. - Amazing)
* Roman Polanski ( i really like him - The Pianist, Carnage, TESS, Rosemary's Baby, The Tenant, etc.)

I'm not usually a grammar nazi, but that's blasphemy here!

What I like or am interested by is very prone to change. In some particular order, here's some names:

David Lynch
Park Chan Wook
Richard Linklater
Alex van Warmerdam
Peter Jackson
Lars von Trier
Stanley Kubrick
Tony Gatlif

I feel like I'm forgetting someone

Perhaps your forgetting to take Jackson off your list? I just do not get how you have him alongside your others. The nature & wonder of Film.

I wouldn't call the following list of directors the greatest but my favorite directors. So here are my 5 favorite directors and some more:

David Lynch
Joel & Ethan Coen (I count them as one even if it's weird)
Quentin Tarantino
Martin Scorsese
Stanley Kubrick

Other directors whose films I like: Lars von Trier, Billy Wilder,Takeshi Kitano, Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, Werner Herzog, Gaspar Noe, Spike Lee
I think that's enough even though I probably forgot about some.
