Speaking for myself I had zero expectations for the character and/or actress. Sometimes bad acting is just that - bad acting. Lynch has used non-actors to great effect before, the classic example being Monty Montgomery as The Cowboy in Mulholland Drive. His deadpan lack of technique worked superbly...
