Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience
Watching Episode 8, and to a lesser extent 11, on the big screen at MOMA among an almost-full house of Lynch aficionados was one of the more fun screening experiences in recent memory. The image quality of this series, when projected in DCP, is utterly stunning. And so far the experience of watchin...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
A little soundbite from Gary Levine at Showtime confirming they're up for more if Lynch is. It's also heartening to hear him confirm that in Showtime's eyes the show was a success. Showtime’s head of programming is ready and willing to re-team with “Twin Peaks” creators David Lynch and Mark Frost. “...

Re: 2017 Best of Lists
The Playlist has it at #1, with probably the perfect line to end the film-vs-TV debate: "Movie, show, novel, tasting menu, designer fragrance or improvisational jazz opus, “Twin Peaks: The Return” was 2017’s best thing." https://theplaylist.net/best-tv-shows-2017-20171214/5/#cb-content It ...

Showtime's store has some in stock. Expensive, but it can be delivered quickly.

Re: 2017 Best of Lists
Also, Metacritic is aggregating the various Best Of lists into one master list. TP:TR is currently #2 overall, behind The Leftovers:

2017 Best of Lists
As TP:TR will likely end up on a number of year-end Best Of lists, much to the chagrin of many here, it might be worth having a single thread to place them in. Re: RIP Harry Dean Stanton
Fondly remember many nights drinking around him at Dan Tana's in the early 2000s. Once we even ended up at the same afterhours club in South Central LA at 4am -- me in my twenties, broke and dateless; he in his late 70s, with a beautiful young woman on each arm. Legend.

Re: Works That Influenced Twin Peaks: The Return
All great mentions above. I'd also add Tarkovsky to the list. There's something about the atmosphere of Stalker and Mirror in particular that feels reflected in the themes and visuals of The Return.

Re: Poll: Do You Understand Now Why S.F. was pissed about her role in The Return?
The problem with many of the actors, writers, musicians etc associated with Twin Peaks is that it remains both the biggest, if not only, thing they're known for, and also an albatross around their necks as they've never subsequently matched its success. I'm sure Fenn, Julee Cruise, etc, expected to ...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
There are moments of the original, including the pilot, the first dream, Maddie's murder and the final episode, that cannot be touched. I think partly that's because I was at the age when it first aired that I'd never seen anything like it before, and that's a powerful feeling that can't really be r...

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)
And, remember, Showtime's parent company CBS directly stated that an unexpected 11% increase in their earnings was a direct result of the Peaks impact on their streaming and subscription platforms. Plus the huge amount of social media chatter and its role in invigorating the Showtime brand. It's unq...
